The Heidelberg Catechism

LORD’S DAY 1

1. What is thy only comfort in life and death?

That I with body and soul, both in life and death, am not my own, but belong unto my faithful Savior Jesus Christ; who, with His precious blood, hath fully satisfied for all my sins, and delivered me from all the power of the devil; and so preserves me that without the will of my heavenly Father, not a hair can fall from my head; yea, that all things must be subservient to my salvation, and therefore, by His Holy Spirit, He also assures me of eternal life, and makes me sincerely willing and ready, henceforth, to live unto Him.

2. How many things are necessary for thee to know, that thou, enjoying this comfort, mayest live and die happily?

Three; the first, how great my sins and miseries are; the second, how I may be delivered from all my sins and miseries; the third, how I shall express my gratitude to God for such deliverance.

The First Part: Of the Misery of Man

LORD’S DAY 2

1. Whence knowest thou thy misery?

Out of the law of God.

2. What doth the law of God require of us?

Christ teaches us that briefly, Matthew 22:37–40, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first and the great commandment; and the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.”

3. Canst thou keep all these things perfectly?

In no wise; for I am prone by nature to hate God and my neighbor.

LORD’S DAY 3

1. Did God then create man so wicked and perverse?

By no means; but God created man good, and after His own image, in true righteousness and holiness, that he might rightly know God his Creator, heartily love Him and live with Him in eternal happiness to glorify and praise Him.

2. Whence then proceeds this depravity of human nature?

From the fall and disobedience of our first parents, Adam and Eve, in Paradise; hence our nature is become so corrupt that we are all conceived and born in sin.

3. Are we then so corrupt that we are wholly incapable of doing any good, and inclined to all wickedness?

Indeed we are, except we are regenerated by the Spirit of God.

LORD’S DAY 4

1. Doth not God then do injustice to man, by requiring from him in His law that which he cannot perform?

Not at all; for God made man capable of performing it; but man, by the instigation of the devil, and his own wilful disobedience, deprived himself and all his posterity of those divine gifts.

2. Will God suffer such disobedience and rebellion to go unpunished?

By no means; but is terribly displeased with our original as well as actual sins; and will punish them in His just judgment temporally and eternally, as He hath declared, “Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things, which are written in the book of the law, to do them.”

3. Is not God then also merciful?

God is indeed merciful, but also just; therefore His justice requires that sin which is committed against the most high majesty of God be also punished with extreme, that is, with everlasting punishment of body and soul.

The Second Part: Of Man’s Deliverance

LORD’S DAY 5

1. Since then, by the righteous judgment of God, we deserve temporal and eternal punishment, is there no way by which we may escape that punishment, and be again received into favor?

God will have His justice satisfied, and therefore we must make this full satisfaction, either by ourselves or by another.

2. Can we ourselves then make this satisfaction?

By no means; but on the contrary we daily increase our debt.

3. Can there be found anywhere one, who is a mere creature, able to satisfy for us?

None; for, first, God will not punish any other creature for the sin which man hath committed; and further, no mere creature can sustain the burden of God’s eternal wrath against sin, so as to deliver others from it.

4. What sort of a mediator and deliverer then must we seek for?

For one who is very man, and perfectly righteous; and yet more powerful than all creatures; that is, one who is also very God.

LORD’S DAY 6

1. Why must he be very man, and also perfectly righteous?

Because the justice of God requires that the same human nature which hath sinned, should likewise make satisfaction for sin; and one, who is himself a sinner, cannot satisfy for others.

2. Why must He in one person be also very God?

That He might by the power of His Godhead sustain in His human nature the burden of God’s wrath; and might obtain for, and restore to us, righteousness and life.

3. Who then is that Mediator, who is in one person both very God, and a real righteous man?

Our Lord Jesus Christ, “who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption.”

4. Whence knowest thou this?

From the holy gospel, which God Himself first revealed in Paradise; and afterwards published by the patriarchs and prophets, and represented by the sacrifices and other ceremonies of the law; and lastly, has fulfilled it by His only begotten Son.

LORD’S DAY 7

1. Are all men then, as they perished in Adam, saved by Christ?

No; only those who are ingrafted into Him, and receive all His benefits, by a true faith.

2. What is true faith?

True faith is not only a certain knowledge, whereby I hold for truth all that God has revealed to us in His Word, but also an assured confidence, which the Holy Ghost works by the gospel in my heart, that not only to others, but to me also, remission of sin, everlasting righteousness and salvation are freely given by God, merely of grace, only for the sake of Christ’s merits.

3. What is then necessary for a Christian to believe?

All things promised us in the gospel, which the articles of our catholic undoubted Christian faith briefly teach us.

4. What are these articles?

I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth;
And in Jesus Christ, His only begotten Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary;
Suffered under Pontius Pilate; was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell;
The third day He arose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead;
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
I believe in the holy catholic church; the communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting. Amen.

LORD’S DAY 8

1. How are these articles divided?

Into three parts; the first is of God the Father and our creation; the second, of God the Son and our redemption; the third, of God the Holy Ghost and our sanctification.

2. Since there is but one only divine essence, why speakest thou of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost?

Because God hath so revealed Himself in His Word, that these three distinct persons are the one only true and eternal God. 

Of God the Father

LORD’S DAY 9

1. What believest thou when thou sayest, “I believe in God the Father, Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth?”

That the eternal Father of our Lord Jesus Christ (who of nothing made heaven and earth, with all that is in them; who likewise upholds and governs the same by His eternal counsel and providence) is for the sake of Christ His Son, my God and my Father; on whom I rely so entirely, that I have no doubt but He will provide me with all things necessary for soul and body; and further, that He will make whatever evils He sends upon me, in this valley of tears, turn out to my advantage; for He is able to do it, being Almighty God, and willing, being a faithful Father.

LORD’S DAY 10

1. What dost thou mean by the providence of God?

The almighty and everywhere present power of God; whereby, as it were by His hand, He upholds and governs heaven, earth, and all creatures; so that herbs and grass, rain and drought, fruitful and barren years, meat and drink, health and sickness, riches and poverty, yea, and all things come, not by chance, but by His fatherly hand.

2. What advantage is it to us to know that God has created, and by His providence doth still uphold all things?

That we may be patient in adversity; thankful in prosperity; and that in all things, which may hereafter befall us, we place our firm trust in our faithful God and Father, that nothing shall separate us from His love; since all creatures are so in His hand, that without His will they cannot so much as move. 

Of God the Son

LORD’S DAY 11

1. Why is the Son of God called Jesus, that is, a Savior?

Because He saveth us, and delivereth us from our sins; and likewise, because we ought not to seek, neither can find salvation in any other.

2. Do such then believe in Jesus the only Savior, who seek their salvation and welfare of saints, of themselves, or anywhere else?

They do not; for though they boast of Him in words, yet in deeds they deny Jesus the only deliverer and Savior; for one of these two things must be true, that either Jesus is not a complete Savior or that they, who by a true faith receive this Savior, must find all things in Him necessary to their salvation.

LORD’S DAY 12

1. Why is He called Christ, that is, anointed?

Because He is ordained of God the Father, and anointed with the Holy Ghost, to be our chief Prophet and Teacher, who has fully revealed to us the secret counsel and will of God concerning our redemption; and to be our only High Priest, who by the one sacrifice of His body, has redeemed us, and makes continual intercession with the Father for us; and also to be our eternal King, who governs us by His word and Spirit, and who defends and preserves us in the enjoyment of that salvation He has purchased for us.

2. But why art thou called a Christian?

Because I am a member of Christ by faith, and thus am partaker of His anointing; that so I may confess His name, and present myself a living sacrifice of thankfulness to Him; and also that with a free and good conscience I may fight against sin and Satan in this life, and afterwards reign with Him eternally, over all creatures.

LORD’S DAY 13

1. Why is Christ called the only begotten Son of God, since we are also the children of God?

Because Christ alone is the eternal and natural Son of God; but we are children adopted of God, by grace, for His sake.

2. Wherefore callest thou Him our Lord?

Because He hath redeemed us, both soul and body, from all our sins, not with gold or silver, but with His precious blood, and hath delivered us from all the power of the devil; and thus hath made us His own property.

LORD’S DAY 14

1. What is the meaning of these words —“He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary”?

That God’s eternal Son, who is, and continueth true and eternal God, took upon Him the very nature of man, of the flesh and blood of the Virgin Mary, by the operation of the Holy Ghost; that He might also be the true seed of David, like unto His brethren in all things, sin excepted.

2. What profit dost thou receive by Christ’s holy conception and nativity?

That He is our Mediator, and with His innocence and perfect holiness, covers in the sight of God, my sins, wherein I was conceived and brought forth.

LORD’S DAY 15

1. What dost thou understand by the words, “He suffered”?

That He, all the time that He lived on earth, but especially at the end of His life, sustained in body and soul the wrath of God against the sins of all mankind; that so by His passion, as the only propitiatory sacrifice, He might redeem our body and soul from everlasting damnation, and obtain for us the favor of God, righteousness and eternal life.

2. Why did He suffer under Pontius Pilate as judge?

That He, being innocent, and yet condemned by a temporal judge, might thereby free us from the severe judgment of God to which we were exposed.

3. Is there anything more in His being crucified than if He had died some other death?

Yes, there is; for thereby I am assured, that He took on Him the curse which lay upon me; for the death of the cross was accursed of God.

LORD’S DAY 16

1. Why was it necessary for Christ to humble Himself even unto death?

Because with respect to the justice and truth of God, satisfaction for our sins could be made no otherwise than by the death of the Son of God.

2. Why was He also “buried”?

Thereby to prove that He was really dead.

3. Since then Christ died for us, why must we also die?

Our death is not a satisfaction for our sins, but only an abolishing of sin, and a passage into eternal life.

4. What further benefit do we receive from the sacrifice and death of Christ on the cross?

That by virtue thereof our old man is crucified, dead and buried with Him; that so the corrupt inclinations of the flesh may no more reign in us, but that we may offer ourselves unto Him a sacrifice of thanksgiving.

5. Why is there added, “He descended into hell”?

That in my greatest temptations, I may be assured, and wholly comfort myself in this, that my Lord Jesus Christ, by His inexpressible anguish, pains, terrors, and hellish agonies, in which He was plunged during all His sufferings, but especially on the cross, hath delivered me from the anguish and torments of hell.

LORD’S DAY 17

1. What doth the resurrection of Christ profit us?

First, by His resurrection He has overcome death, that He might make us partakers of that righteousness which He had purchased for us by His death; secondly, we are also by His power raised up to a new life; and lastly, the resurrection of Christ is a sure pledge of our blessed resurrection.

LORD’S DAY 18

1. How dost thou understand these words, “He ascended into heaven”?

That Christ, in sight of His disciples, was taken up from earth into heaven; and that He continues there for our interest until He comes again to judge the quick and the dead.

2. Is not Christ then with us even to the end of the world, as He hath promised?

Christ is very man and very God; with respect to His human nature, He is no more on earth; but with respect to His Godhead, majesty, grace and Spirit, He is at no time absent from us.

3. But if His human nature is not present, wherever His Godhead is, are not then these two natures in Christ separated from one another?

Not at all, for since the Godhead is illimitable and omnipresent, it must necessarily follow that the same is beyond the limits of the human nature He assumed, and yet is nevertheless in this human nature, and remains personally united to it.

4. Of what advantage to us is Christ’s ascension into heaven?

First, that He is our Advocate in the presence of His Father in heaven; secondly, that we have our flesh in heaven as a sure pledge that He, as the head, will also take up to Himself, us, His members; thirdly, that He sends us His Spirit as an earnest, by whose power we “seek the things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God,” and not things on earth.

LORD’S DAY 19

1. Why is it added, “and sitteth at the right hand of God”?

Because Christ is ascended into heaven for this end, that He might appear as head of His church, by whom the Father governs all things.

2. What profit is this glory of Christ, our Head, unto us?

First, that by His Holy Spirit He pours out heavenly graces upon us His members; and then that by His power He defends and preserves us against all enemies.

3. What comfort is it to thee that “Christ shall come again to judge the quick and the dead”?

That in all my sorrows and persecutions, with uplifted head I look for the very same person, who before offered Himself for my sake to the tribunal of God, and has removed all curse from me, to come as judge from heaven; who shall cast all His and my enemies into everlasting condemnation, but shall translate me with all His chosen ones to Himself, into heavenly joys and glory.

Of the Holy Ghost

LORD’S DAY 20

1. What dost thou believe concerning the Holy Ghost?

First, that He is true and coeternal God with the Father and the Son; secondly, that He is also given me, to make me by a true faith, partaker of Christ and all His benefits, that He may comfort me and abide with me for ever.

LORD’S DAY 21

1. What believest thou concerning the “holy catholic church” of Christ?

That the Son of God from the beginning to the end of the world, gathers, defends, and preserves to Himself by His Spirit and Word, out of the whole human race, a Church chosen to everlasting life, agreeing in true faith; and that I am and for ever shall remain, a living member thereof.

2. What do you understand by “the communion of saints”?

First, that all and every one who believes, being members of Christ, are in common, partakers of Him, and of all His riches and gifts; secondly, that every one must know it to be his duty, readily and cheerfully to employ his gifts, for the advantage and salvation of other members.

3. What believest thou concerning “the forgiveness of sins”?

That God, for the sake of Christ’s satisfaction, will no more remember my sins, neither my corrupt nature, against which I have to struggle all my life long; but will graciously impute to me the righteousness of Christ, that I may never be condemned before the tribunal of God.

LORD’S DAY 22

1. What comfort doth the “resurrection of the body” afford thee?

That not only my soul after this life shall be immediately taken up to Christ its Head; but also, that this my body, being raised by the power of Christ, shall be reunited with my soul, and made like unto the glorious body of Christ.

2. What comfort takest thou from the article of “life everlasting”?

That since I now feel in my heart the beginning of eternal joy, after this life I shall inherit perfect salvation, which “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man” to conceive, and that, to praise God therein for ever.

LORD’S DAY 23

1. But what doth it profit thee now that thou believest all this?

That I am righteous in Christ, before God, and an heir of eternal life.

2. How art thou righteous before God?

Only by a true faith in Jesus Christ; so that, though my conscience accuse me, that I have grossly transgressed all the commandments of God, and kept none of them, and am still inclined to all evil; notwithstanding, God, without any merit of mine, but only of mere grace, grants and imputes to me the perfect satisfaction, righteousness and holiness of Christ; even so, as if I never had had, nor committed any sin; yea, as if I had fully accomplished all that obedience which Christ has accomplished for me, inasmuch as I embrace such benefit with a believing heart.

3. Why sayest thou that thou art righteous by faith only?

Not that I am acceptable to God, on account of the worthiness of my faith, but because only the satisfaction, righteousness, and holiness of Christ, is my righteousness before God; and that I cannot receive and apply the same to myself any other way than by faith only.

LORD’S DAY 24

1. But why cannot our good works be the whole or part of our righteousness before God?

Because that the righteousness, which can be approved of before the tribunal of God, must be absolutely perfect, and in all respects conformable to the divine law; and also, that our best works in this life are all imperfect and defiled with sin.

2. What! Do not our good works merit, which yet God will reward in this and in a future life?

This reward is not of merit, but of grace.

3. But doth not this doctrine make men careless and profane?

By no means: for it is impossible that those, who are implanted into Christ by a true faith, should not bring forth fruits of thankfulness. 

Of the Sacraments

LORD’S DAY 25

1. Since then we are made partakers of Christ and all His benefits by faith only, whence doth this faith proceed?

From the Holy Ghost, who works faith in our hearts by the preaching of the gospel, and confirms it by the use of the sacraments.

2. What are the sacraments?

The sacraments are holy visible signs and seals, appointed of God for this end, that by the use thereof He may the more fully declare and seal to us the promise of the gospel, namely, that He grants us freely the remission of sin and life eternal for the sake of that one sacrifice of Christ accomplished on the cross.

3. Are both Word and sacraments, then, ordained and appointed for this end, that they may direct our faith to the sacrifice of Jesus Christ on the cross as the only ground of our salvation?

Yes, indeed, for the Holy Ghost teaches us in the gospel, and assures us by the sacraments, that the whole of our salvation depends upon that one sacrifice of Christ which He offered for us on the cross.

4. How many sacraments has Christ instituted in the new covenant, or testament?

Two, namely, holy baptism and the holy supper.

Of Holy Baptism

LORD’S DAY 26

1. How art thou admonished and assured by holy baptism that the one sacrifice of Christ upon the cross is of real advantage to thee?

Thus: That Christ appointed this external washing with water, adding thereto this promise, that I am as certainly washed by His blood and Spirit from all the pollution of my soul, that is, from all my sins, as I am washed externally with water, by which the filthiness of the body is commonly washed away.

2. What is it to be washed with the blood and Spirit of Christ?

It is to receive of God the remission of sins freely, for the sake of Christ’s blood which He shed for us by His sacrifice upon the cross; and also to be renewed by the Holy Ghost, and sanctified to be members of Christ, that so we may more and more die unto sin, and lead holy and unblamable lives.

3. Where has Christ promised us, that He will as certainly wash us by His blood and Spirit, as we are washed with the water of baptism?

In the institution of baptism, which is thus expressed: “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”; “He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.” This promise is also repeated, where the Scripture calls baptism the washing of regeneration and the washing away of sins.

LORD’S DAY 27

1. Is then the external baptism with water the washing away of sin itself?

Not at all; for the blood of Jesus Christ only, and the Holy Ghost cleanse us from all sin.

2. Why then doth the Holy Ghost call baptism “the washing of regeneration” and the “washing away of sins”?

God speaks thus not without great cause, to wit, not only thereby to teach us that as the filth of the body is purged away by water, so our sins are removed by the blood and Spirit of Jesus Christ; but especially that by this divine pledge and sign He may assure us that we are spiritually cleansed from our sins as really as we are externally washed with water.

3. Are infants also to be baptized?

Yes, for since they, as well as the adult, are included in the covenant and church of God; and since redemption from sin by the blood of Christ, and the Holy Ghost, the author of faith, is promised to them no less than to the adult; they must therefore by baptism, as a sign of the covenant, be also admitted into the Christian church, and be distinguished from the children of unbelievers as was done in the old covenant or testament by circumcision, instead of which baptism is instituted in the new covenant.

Of the Holy Supper of Our Lord Jesus Christ

LORD’S DAY 28

1. How art thou admonished and assured in the Lord’s Supper that thou art a partaker of that one sacrifice of Christ, accomplished on the cross, and of all His benefits?

Thus: That Christ has commanded me and all believers to eat of this broken bread and to drink of this cup in remembrance of Him, adding these promises: first, that His body was offered and broken on the cross for me, and His blood shed for me, as certainly as I see with my eyes the bread of the Lord broken for me and the cup communicated to me; and further, that He feeds and nourishes my soul to everlasting life, with His crucified body and shed blood, as assuredly as I receive from the hands of the minister, and taste with my mouth the bread and cup of the Lord, as certain signs of the body and blood of Christ.

2. What is it then to eat the crucified body, and drink the shed blood of Christ?

It is not only to embrace with a believing heart all the sufferings and death of Christ, and thereby to obtain the pardon of sin and life eternal; but also, besides that, to become more and more united to His sacred body, by the Holy Ghost, who dwells both in Christ and in us; so that we, though Christ is in heaven and we on earth, are notwithstanding “flesh of His flesh, and bone of His bone”; and that we live, and are governed forever by one spirit, as members of the same body are by one soul.

3. Where has Christ promised that He will as certainly feed and nourish believers with His body and blood, as they eat of this broken bread, and drink of this cup?

In the institution of the supper, which is thus expressed: “The Lord Jesus the same night in which He was betrayed took bread: and when He had given thanks, He brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is My body, which is broken for you; this do in remembrance of Me. After the same manner also He took the cup, when He had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in My blood; this do ye, as often as ye drink it, in remembrance of Me. For, as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do show the Lord’s death till He come.” This promise is repeated by the holy apostle Paul, where he says: “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we, being many, are one bread and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread.”

LORD’S DAY 29

1. Do then the bread and wine become the very body and blood of Christ?

Not at all; but as the water in baptism is not changed into the blood of Christ, neither is the washing away of sin itself, being only the sign and confirmation thereof appointed of God; so the bread in the Lord’s Supper is not changed into the very body of Christ, though agreeably to the nature and properties of sacraments, it is called the body of Christ Jesus.

2. Why then doth Christ call the bread His body, and the cup His blood, or the new covenant in His blood; and Paul, the “communion of the body and blood of Christ”? 

Christ speaks thus not without great reason, namely, not only thereby to teach us that as bread and wine support this temporal life, so His crucified body and shed blood are the true meat and drink whereby our souls are fed to eternal life; but more especially by these visible signs and pledges to assure us that we are as really partakers of His true body and blood (by the operation of the Holy Ghost) as we receive by the mouths of our bodies these holy signs in remembrance of Him; and that all His sufferings and obedience are as certainly ours, as if we had in our own persons suffered and made satisfaction for our sins to God.

LORD’S DAY 30

1. What difference is there between the Lord’s Supper and the popish Mass?

The Lord’s Supper testifies to us that we have a full pardon of all sin by the only sacrifice of Jesus Christ, which He Himself has once accomplished on the cross; and that we by the Holy Ghost are ingrafted into Christ, who, according to His human nature is now not on earth, but in heaven, at the right hand of God His Father, and will there be worshipped by us—but the Mass teaches that the living and dead have not the pardon of sins through the sufferings of Christ, unless Christ is also daily offered for them by the priests; and further, that Christ is bodily under the form of bread and wine, and therefore is to be worshipped in them; so that the Mass, at bottom, is nothing else than a denial of the one sacrifice and sufferings of Jesus Christ, and an accursed idolatry.

2. For whom is the Lord’s Supper instituted?

For those who are truly sorrowful for their sins, and yet trust that these are forgiven them for the sake of Christ; and that their remaining infirmities are covered by His passion and death; and who also earnestly desire to have their faith more and more strengthened, and their lives more holy; but hypocrites, and such as turn not to God with sincere hearts, eat and drink judgment to themselves.

3. Are they also to be admitted to this supper, who, by confession and life, declare themselves unbelieving and ungodly?

No; for by this, the covenant of God would be profaned and His wrath kindled against the whole congregation; therefore it is the duty of the Christian church, according to the appointment of Christ and His apostles, to exclude such persons by the keys of the kingdom of heaven till they show amendment of life.

LORD’S DAY 31

1. What are the keys of the kingdom of heaven?

The preaching of the holy gospel, and Christian discipline, or excommunication out of the Christian church; by these two, the kingdom of heaven is opened to believers and shut against unbelievers.

2. How is the kingdom of heaven opened and shut by the preaching of the holy gospel?

Thus: when according to the command of Christ it is declared and publicly testified to all and every believer, that, whenever they receive the promise of the gospel by a true faith, all their sins are really forgiven them of God for the sake of Christ’s merits; and on the contrary, when it is declared and testified to all unbelievers, and such as do not sincerely repent, that they stand exposed to the wrath of God and eternal condemnation, so long as they are unconverted; according to which testimony of the gospel, God will judge them both in this and in the life to come.

3. How is the kingdom of heaven shut and opened by Christian discipline?

Thus: when according to the command of Christ, those, who under the name of Christians, maintain doctrines or practices inconsistent therewith, and will not, after having been often brotherly admonished, renounce their errors and wicked course of life, are complained of to the church or to those who are thereunto appointed by the church; and if they despise their admonition, are by them forbidden the use of the sacraments; whereby they are excluded from the Christian church and by God Himself from the kingdom of Christ; and when they promise and show real amendment, are again received as members of Christ and His church.

The Third Part: Of Thankfulness

LORD’S DAY 32

1. Since then we are delivered from our misery, merely of grace, through Christ, without any merit of ours, why must we still do good works?

Because Christ, having redeemed and delivered us by His blood, also renews us by His Holy Spirit after His own image; that so we may testify, by the whole of our conduct, our gratitude to God for His blessings, and that He may be praised by us; also, that every one may be assured in himself of his faith by the fruits thereof; and that by our godly conversation others may be gained to Christ.

2. Cannot they then be saved, who, continuing in their wicked and ungrateful lives, are not converted to God?

By no means; for the Holy Scripture declares that no unchaste person, idolator, adulterer, thief, covetous man, drunkard, slanderer, robber, or any such like, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

LORD’S DAY 33

1. Of how many parts doth the true conversion of man consist?

Of two parts: of the mortification of the old, and the quickening of the new man.

2. What is the mortification of the old man?

It is a sincere sorrow of heart that we have provoked God by our sins, and more and more to hate and flee from them.

3. What is the quickening of the new man?

It is a sincere joy of heart in God, through Christ, and with love and delight to live according to the will of God in all good works.

4. But what are good works?

Only those which proceed from a true faith, are performed according to the law of God, and to His glory; and not such as are founded on our imaginations or the institutions of men.

LORD’S DAY 34

1. What is the law of God?

God spake all these words (Ex. 20:1–17; Deut. 5:6– 21), saying, I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

  1. Thou shalt have no other gods before Me.
  2. Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them; for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me; and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me, and keep My commandments.
  3. Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh His name in vain.
  4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour and do all thy work: but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day, and hallowed it.
  5. Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
  6. Thou shalt not kill.
  7. Thou shalt not commit adultery.
  8. Thou shalt not steal.
  9. Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.
  10. Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour’s.

2. How are these commandments divided?

Into two tables; the first of which teaches us how we must behave towards God; the second, what duties we owe to our neighbor.

3. What doth God enjoin in the first commandment?

That I, as sincerely as I desire the salvation of my own soul, avoid and flee from all idolatry, sorcery, soothsaying, superstition, invocation of saints, or any other creatures; and learn rightly to know the only true God; trust in Him alone; with humility and patience submit to Him; expect all good things from Him only; love, fear, and glorify Him with my whole heart; so that I renounce and forsake all creatures, rather than commit even the least thing contrary to His will.

4. What is idolatry?

Idolatry is, instead of, or besides that one true God who has manifested Himself in His word, to contrive, or have any other object, in which men place their trust.

LORD’S DAY 35

1. What doth God require in the second commandment?

That we in no wise represent God by images, nor worship Him in any other way than He has commanded in His Word.

2. Are images then not at all to be made?

God neither can, nor may be represented by any means. But as to creatures, though they may be represented, yet God forbids to make, or have any resemblance of them, either in order to worship them or to serve God by them.

3. But may not images be tolerated in the churches as books to the laity?

No, for we must not pretend to be wiser than God, who will have His people taught, not by dumb images, but by the lively preaching of His Word.

LORD’S DAY 36

1. What is required in the third commandment?

That we, not only by cursing or perjury, but also by rash swearing, must not profane or abuse the name of God; nor by silence or connivance be partakers of these horrible sins in others; and, briefly, that we use the holy name of God no otherwise than with fear and reverence, so that He may be rightly confessed and worshipped by us, and be glorified in all our words and works.

2. Is then the profaning of God’s Name by swearing and cursing so heinous a sin that His wrath is kindled against those who do not endeavor, as much as in them lies, to prevent and forbid such cursing and swearing?

It undoubtedly is, for there is no sin greater or more provoking to God than the profaning of His Name; and therefore He has commanded this sin to be punished with death.

LORD’S DAY 37

1. May we then swear religiously by the name of God?

Yes, either when the magistrates demand it of the subjects or when necessity requires us thereby to confirm fidelity and truth to the glory of God and the safety of our neighbor; for such an oath is founded on God’s Word, and therefore was justly used by the saints, both in the Old and New Testament.

2. May we also swear by saints or any other creatures?

No; for a lawful oath is calling upon God as the only one who knows the heart, that He will bear witness to the truth and punish me if I swear falsely; which honor is due to no creature.

LORD’S DAY 38

1. What doth God require in the fourth commandment?

First, that the ministry of the gospel and the schools be maintained; and that I, especially on the Sabbath, that is, on the day of rest, diligently frequent the church of God to hear His word, to use the sacraments, publicly to call upon the Lord, and contribute to the relief of the poor, as becomes a Christian. Secondly, that all the days of my life I cease from my evil works, and yield myself to the Lord, to work by His Holy Spirit in me; and thus begin in this life the eternal Sabbath.

LORD’S DAY 39

1. What doth God require in the fifth commandment?

That I show all honor, love and fidelity, to my father and mother and all in authority over me, and submit myself to their good instruction and correction, with due obedience; and also patiently bear with their weaknesses and infirmities, since it pleases God to govern us by their hand.

LORD’S DAY 40

1. What doth God require in the sixth commandment?

That neither in thoughts, nor words, nor gestures, much less in deeds, I dishonor, hate, wound, or kill my neighbor, by myself or by another; but that I lay aside all desire of revenge; also, that I hurt not myself, nor wilfully expose myself to any danger. Wherefore also the magistrate is armed with the sword to prevent murder.

2. But this commandment seems only to speak of murder?

In forbidding murder, God teaches us that He abhors the causes thereof, such as envy, hatred, anger, and desire of revenge; and that He accounts all these as murder.

3. But is it enough that we do not kill any man in the manner mentioned above?

No, for when God forbids envy, hatred, and anger, He commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves; to show patience, peace, meekness, mercy, and all kindness towards him, and prevent his hurt as much as in us lies; and that we do good, even to our enemies.

LORD’S DAY 41

1. What doth the seventh commandment teach us?

That all uncleanness is accursed of God; and that therefore we must with all our hearts detest the same, and live chastely and temperately, whether in holy wedlock or in single life.

2. Doth God forbid in this commandment only adultery and such like gross sins? 

Since both our body and soul are temples of the Holy Ghost, He commands us to preserve them pure and holy; therefore He forbids all unchaste actions, gestures, words, thoughts, desires, and whatever can entice men thereto.

LORD’S DAY 42

1. What doth God forbid in the eighth commandment?

God forbids not only those thefts and robberies which are punishable by the magistrate; but He comprehends under the name of theft all wicked tricks and devices, whereby we design to appropriate to ourselves the goods which belong to our neighbor; whether it be by force, or under the appearance of right, as by unjust weights, ells, measures, fraudulent merchandise, false coins, usury, or by any other way forbidden by God; as also all covetousness, all abuse and waste of His gifts.

2. But what doth God require in this commandment?

That I promote the advantage of my neighbor in every instance I can or may, and deal with him as I desire to be dealt with by others; further also that I faithfully labor, so that I may be able to relieve the needy.

LORD’S DAY 43

1. What is required in the ninth commandment?

That I bear false witness against no man nor falsify any man’s words; that I be no backbiter nor slanderer; that I do not judge, nor join in condemning any man rashly or unheard; but that I avoid all sorts of lies and deceit, as the proper works of the devil, unless I would bring down upon me the heavy wrath of God; likewise, that in judgment and all other dealings I love the truth, speak it uprightly and confess it; also that I defend and promote, as much as I am able, the honor and good character of my neighbor.

LORD’S DAY 44

1. What doth the tenth commandment require of us?

That even the smallest inclination or thought contrary to any of God’s commandments never rise in our hearts; but that at all times we hate all sin with our whole heart, and delight in all righteousness.

2. But can those who are converted to God perfectly keep these commandments?

No, but even the holiest men, while in this life, have only a small beginning of this obedience; yet so, that with a sincere resolution they begin to live, not only according to some, but all the commandments of God.

3. Why will God then have the ten commandments so strictly preached, since no man in this life can keep them?

First, that all our lifetime we may learn more and more to know our sinful nature, and thus become the more earnest in seeking the remission of sin and righteousness in Christ; likewise, that we constantly endeavor and pray to God for the grace of the Holy Spirit, that we may become more and more conformable to the image of God, till we arrive at the perfection proposed to us in a life to come.

Of Prayer

LORD’S DAY 45

1. Why is prayer necessary for Christians?

Because it is the chief part of thankfulness which God requires of us; and also, because God will give His grace and Holy Spirit to those only, who with sincere desires continually ask them of Him, and are thankful for them.

2. What are the requisites of that prayer which is acceptable to God and which He will hear?

First, that we from the heart pray to the one true God only, who hath manifested Himself in His Word, for all things He hath commanded us to ask of Him; secondly, that we rightly and thoroughly know our need and misery, that so we may deeply humble ourselves in the presence of His divine majesty; thirdly, that we be fully persuaded that He, notwithstanding that we are unworthy of it, will, for the sake of Christ our Lord, certainly hear our prayer, as He has promised us in His Word.

3. What hath God commanded us to ask of Him?

All things necessary for soul and body, which Christ our Lord has comprised in that prayer He Himself has taught us.

4. What are the words of that prayer?

Our Father which art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

LORD’S DAY 46

1. Why hath Christ commanded us to address God thus: “Our Father”?

That immediately, in the very beginning of our prayer, He might excite in us a childlike reverence for and confidence in God, which are the foundation of our prayer, namely, that God is become our Father in Christ, and will much less deny us what we ask of Him in true faith than our parents will refuse us earthly things.

2. Why is it here added, “which art in heaven”?

Lest we should form any earthly conceptions of God’s heavenly majesty, and that we may expect from His almighty power all things necessary for soul and body.

LORD’S DAY 47

1. Which is the first petition?

“Hallowed be Thy name”; that is, grant us, first, rightly to know Thee, and to sanctify, glorify and praise Thee in all Thy works, in which Thy power, wisdom, goodness, justice, mercy and truth, are clearly displayed; and further also, that we may so order and direct our whole lives, our thoughts, words and actions, that Thy Name may never be blasphemed, but rather honored and praised on our account.

LORD’S DAY 48

1. Which is the second petition?

“Thy kingdom come”; that is, rule us so by Thy Word and Spirit, that we may submit ourselves more and more to Thee; preserve and increase Thy church; destroy the works of the devil, and all violence which would exalt itself against Thee; and also, all wicked counsels devised against Thy holy Word; till the full perfection of Thy kingdom take place, wherein Thou shalt be all in all.

LORD’S DAY 49

1. Which is the third petition?

“Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven”; that is, grant that we and all men may renounce our own will, and without murmuring obey Thy will, which is only good; that so every one may attend to and perform the duties of his station and calling as willingly and faithfully as the angels do in heaven.

LORD’S DAY 50

1. Which is the fourth petition?

“Give us this day our daily bread”; that is, be pleased to provide us with all things necessary for the body, that we may thereby acknowledge Thee to be the only fountain of all good, and that neither our care nor industry, nor even Thy gifts, can profit us without Thy blessing; and therefore that we may withdraw our trust from all creatures and place it alone in Thee.

LORD’S DAY 51

1. Which is the fifth petition?

“And forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors”; that is, be pleased for the sake of Christ’s blood, not to impute to us poor sinners our transgressions, nor that depravity which always cleaves to us; even as we feel this evidence of Thy grace in us, that it is our firm resolution from the heart to forgive our neighbor.

LORD’S DAY 52

1. Which is the sixth petition?

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil”; that is, since we are so weak in ourselves that we cannot stand a moment; and besides this, since our mortal enemies, the devil, the world, and our own flesh, cease not to assault us, do Thou therefore preserve and strengthen us by the power of Thy Holy Spirit, that we may not be overcome in this spiritual warfare, but constantly and strenuously may resist our foes till at last we obtain a complete victory.

2. How dost thou conclude thy prayer?

“For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever”; that is, all these we ask of Thee, because Thou, being our King and almighty, art willing and able to give us all good; and all this we pray for, that thereby not we, but Thy holy Name, may be glorified for ever.

3. What doth the word “Amen” signify?

“Amen” signifies it shall truly and certainly be, for my prayer is more assuredly heard of God than I feel in my heart that I desire these things of Him.

THE MESSIAH CONCEPT

The Jewish belief that the Messiah’s reign lies in the future has long distinguished Jews from Christians who believe that the Messiah came two thousand years ago in the person of Jesus.

The coming of the Messiah was foretold by God through the prophets. (Hebrews 1) He was given several names like the “Son of Man,” “the Redeemer” and “the Messiah” which means the “Anointed One.” “Christ” comes from the Greek word Christos” meaning “Anointed One” or “chosen one.” This is the Greek equivalent of the Hebrew word “Mashiach” or “Messiah.” A number of very specific details were provided in the Old Testament by the prophets to make sure that the Messiah could be properly identified. The only thing God did not reveal was the specific year in which the Messiah would come.

REFERENCE TO THE MESSIAH IN THE OLD TESTAMENT

Examine the following Old Testament prophecies and see how accurately they were fulfilled by Jesus:

  1. Job knew that his Messiah was alive. (Job 19:23-27)
  2. David prophesied about Messiah. (Psalm 16:8-11)
  3. A new covenant would be made. (Jeremiah 31:31)
  4. The suffering of the Messiah. (Psalm 22:14-18)
  5. The Messiah would be the rejected cornerstone. (Psalm 118:22-26)
  6. The Messiah would bring healing and joy. (Isaiah 61:1-3)
  7. The Messiah would be born to a virgin. (Isaiah 7:14-16)
  8. He would be called out of Egypt. (Hosea 11:1; Matthew 2:15)
  9. The Messiah would suffer for our sake and pay for the sins of mankind. (Isaiah 53:1-12)
  10. The Messiah would be pierced. (Zechariah 12:10)
  11. Elijah would come to prepare the way for the Messiah. John the Baptist was the prophet that came before The Messiah. (Malachi 4:5-6)
  12. The Messiah would be called the Son of God. (Psalm 2:1-12)
  13. The Messiah would be betrayed for 30 pieces of silver. (Zechariah 11:10-13)
  14. The Messiah would be known as the Son of Man. (Daniel 7:13-14)

HAS THE MESSIAH COME?

Has the Messiah come as the scriptures foretold? This is the key question for every person. Was Jesus the fulfillment of prophecies in the Old Testament? Was Jesus the Son of God? Was He crucified on a cross in Jerusalem? Did He rise from the dead? Is He now the ruler of the entire creation? Did He pay for the sins of the children of Israel along with the sins of the people in the world? Christians answer these questions affirmatively, but what about the Jews? What did they say when Jesus lived on the earth in a human body?

When God sent Jesus to the earth to become the Messiah for the people of Israel, the Jewish leadership and the majority of the Jews rejected him and refused to acknowledge him as the long awaited Savior. (John 5:43; Acts 2:22-36)

The high priest, Pharisees and other political leaders went so far as to demand his crucifixion by the Roman government. (John 1:1-11; Matthew 26:3-5; 27:1-2, 11-25; Acts 4:8-12; 7:51-53; 1 Thessalonians 2:14-16)

Why did the Jews reject Jesus as their Messiah? “He came unto his own, and his own received him not.” (John 1:11)

Throughout Biblical history, from the time of Moses, there have been two competing factions among the people of Israel. The first group consists of those who adhere to the Old Testament scriptures and patiently waited for and believed in the Messiah promised by God. The second group consists of those who follow the Oral Law (Talmud) and/or the teachings in the Jewish Kabbalah.

WHAT KIND OF MESSSIAH ARE JEWS LOOKING FOR

Today, most Jews do not believe God is going to come to earth and set up the Kingdom of Israel. Instead, they believe the Messiah will be a man (born of a human father and mother) anointed by God, like Samson, who will demonstrate supernatural powers and establish the Kingdom of Israel. The teachings in the Jewish Talmud and Kabbalah have always been that the Messiah “Mashiach” would be a man anointed as a “King” but not a “Savior” as the Christian concept of a divine being who will sacrifice himself to save humanity from sin. Instead, the Talmudic and Kabbalistic concept of the “Mashiach” is that he would set up an earthly Kingdom of Israel and fulfill the following:

  1. A charismatic political leader and militant military leader.
  2. Knowledgeable in Jewish Law (Talmudic and Kabbalistic Law).
  3. Descended from King David.
  4. Restore the land to the nation of Israel according to the boundaries described by God to Abraham.
  5. Regather all of the tribes to Israel.
  6. Set up his kingdom in Jerusalem.
  7. Rebuild the temple and re-establish animal sacrifices and worship
  8. Restore the religious court system of Israel (Sanhedrin) and the Jewish laws (Talmud for the Jews) (Noahide Laws for the Gentiles) as the law of the land.
  9. Establish a government in Israel that will be the center of all world government (both for Jews and Gentiles).
  10. Control the entire world with the Jews ruling the Gentile nations.
  11. Set up universal justice and peace on earth.

THE MESSIAH ACCORDING TO THE BIBLE

God, however, never intended that Israel would be an earthly kingdom; instead, his will was that he would rule over them in a theocracy. (1 Samuel 8:6-22).

Israel was to be the custodian of the revelation of God and to be the people from whom the Messiah would come. (Romans 3:1-2; Deuteronomy 7:6-8; John 1:1-14)

The Jewish people in general did not understand that the Messiah would not be just a man anointed by God as a earthly king. But instead, he would be God himself incarnate in human flesh and would die for humanity’s sins on the cross, making it possible for all humanity (Jew and Gentile) to be saved and have eternal life. (Matthew 26:63-66; John 10:30-36; Genesis 12:3; 22:18; Galatians 3:8-29; Romans 2:28-29; John 3:16-22)

Christians believe God the Father sent Jesus to be the Messiah, the Redeemer, and King of the Jews. Christianity uses the Old and New Testament scriptures which teach that the Messiah would be a divine being (God incarnate/“in flesh”) created supernaturally by the Holy Spirit. (John 9:35-38; Romans 8:3; Philippians 2:6-7; Colossians 2:9; 1 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:3-5; Isaiah 7:13-14; Matthew 1:22-23)

Although Jesus’ physical body was born in Bethlehem, he has always existed as the “Son” of God” and second person of the trinity (God/Father, Son, and Holy Spirit). (John 8:58; Exodus 3:14; John 10:30-38; 14:9-18)

Christianity teaches that Jesus is the Messiah who first came into the world as the “Suffering Servant” and came to die for the sins of all mankind/ nations in the world, both Jew and Gentile. (Isaiah 53; Psalm 22)

Christians are now waiting for Jesus to return and set up his reign in Jerusalem. His kingdom will consist of all believers. God did not need a human organization to set up the arrival of Jesus. It was done supernaturally by the Holy Spirit and God’s Holy Angels. In contrast, the Kabbalistic Messiah needs a human organization to usher him into power. Most Christians believe that Jesus will not need any help from them when he returns but that He will return with divine power at the appointed time. At that time, Jesus will not arrive as a “Suffering Servant”, but as “King of Kings and Lord of Lords” and destroy the Antichrist and the False Prophet and He will take control over all nations and “rule them with a rod of iron” (Revelation 19:11-21). Jesus will set up the Thousand Year Kingdom and restore the Kingdom of Israel to the remnants of the 12 tribes who have not taken the Mark of the Beast. (Isaiah 14:1; Ezekiel 37:1-28; Revelation 20:16)

THE TRADITON OF THE ELDERS

Judaism as a religion relies on the writings in the Talmud (Oral Torah) (known at the time of Jesus as the Oral Traditions of the Elders or Oral Law). The teachings of the Oral Traditions or Oral Law began during the time of the Jewish Babylonian Captivity (580 B.C.). The Jewish leaders considered the Old Testament consisting of the written Torah (5 books of Moses), the Prophets, and the Writings to be open to interpretation. The interpreters were known as sages. They amended and reinterpreted the written Mosaic Laws and also the Prophets and the Writings in order to cope with new problems. They considered the Old Testament scriptures (written Law) (written Torah) to be akin to the U.S. Constitution in the sense that it set down a series of laws that were open to interpretation.

There are thousands of cases where the oral law explains and takes precedence to the written law. These amendments and reinterpretations were known as the oral traditions/ oral law. It is a continued compilation of different rabbis and their interpretations of the Old Testament Scriptures, as well as, new doctrine, much of it is based on Kabbalistic thinking. The Talmud is basically a commentary on the Old Testament. Today, the Talmud consists of some 650 books. The Talmud is called “the tradition of the elders” in the New Testament and Jesus strongly rejected it. (Matthew 15:1-14; 16:6-12; 23:1-39; Mark 7:1-13)

The Oral Laws changed/ evolved over the centuries, and had the effect of adding to and constantly changing God’s Written Word which is forbidden. (Deuteronomy 4:2; 12:32)

God’s written law never changes. The truth never changes. It is immutable, absolute, and timeless. “For I am the Lord, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” (Malachi 3:6).

“Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth forever.” (Psalm 119:160).

“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.” (Matthew 5:17-18)

Judaism teaches that at Mount Sinai (along with the Written Torah/ Law) God also taught an Oral Torah/ Law to Moses and the Elders and other religious leaders of each generation, down to the present day. This tradition was maintained only in oral form until about the 2nd century A.D., when the Oral Law was compiled and written down in a document called the Mishnah. Over the next few centuries, additional commentaries elaborating on the Mishnah were written down in Jerusalem and Babylon. These additional commentaries are known as the Gemara. The Gemara and the Mishnah together are known as the Talmud. This was completed in the 5th century A.D. There are actually two Talmuds: the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud. The Babylonian Talmud is more comprehensive, and is the one most people mean if they just say “the Talmud” without specifying which one.

The claim that Moses, the Elders and other select leaders received the Oral Law/Torah with the Written Law/Torah is not true (not Old Testament based). The sole purpose of the Oral Law was to grant to the rabbi power and control. The Written Law/ Torah states that God’s covenant with Israel on Mt. Sinai was based on a written Torah alone. (Exodus 32:15-16; 34:27) The Written Law/ Torah never mention any Oral Law, Oral Torah, or Oral Traditions that are allegedly passed down from one generation to the next.

THE KABBALAH

Some leaders and individuals in Judaism also follow the teachings/ doctrines in the Kabbalah (Jewish occult mystical sorcery divination) which is the oldest form of the Oral Tradition. It developed from sources such as: non-canonized prophecy, Egyptian, Babylonian, and Zoroastrian resurrection mythology, Greek science, numerology, gnostic heresies. This is also the foundation of the mystery religions and mystery schools which currently run the world government and religions. It began as far back as Nimrod and the tower of Babel. Its true origin is with Lucifer in the garden and the fallen angels. (Genesis 3:1-24; 6:1-22)

The Kabbalah was originally orally passed down in secret to a very small group of mystics (the initiated) which passed from generation to generation, dating back to the time of Moses. Today, the Kabbalah consists of numerous writings like the Book of Formation, the Zohar, the Practical or Magical Kabbalah, the writings of Isaac Luria and other Jewish rabbis. In southern Italy in the eighth century 8 A.D., The Book of Formation was the first of the Oral Occult Traditions to be published. The Zohar first appeared in Spain in the 13th century, and was published by a Jewish writer named Moses de Leon. Today, at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem there is a full department dedicated to the study of the Kabbalah. For many years, it was chaired by Professor Gershom Scholem, the world’s foremost scholar on the Kabbalah. Professor Scholem has written at least four textbooks on the Kabbalah, which have been translated into English and sold in Jewish outlets. Today, the Kabbalah consists of approximately 550 books.

The Kabbalah is also known as “The Traditions of the Elders.” The Kabbalistic writings state that Moses met the “bad god” when he went up to the top of the mountain and came down with the Ten Commandments. The Kabbalah states that the “good god” is Lucifer and he met with the 70 elders at the foot of the mountain. The Kabbalah states that the 70 elders received the true and good revelation (Kabbalistic doctrine) about spiritual matters, while Moses received false and evil revelations about spiritual matters (Old Testament Scriptures). This is not true since the Bible records that God told Moses to gather the 70 elders to help him in the day-to-day leadership of the Israelites and the Bible records that Moses met with God at the top of the mountain while the 70 elders stayed at the foot of the mountain with the people of Israel. (Numbers 11:16-17; Exodus 19:1-25) The Kabbalah has its origin in Egypt and came out with the Hebrews when Moses brought them out. It dates back to the time when Korah, Dathan, Abiram and other false prophets led a serious rebellion against the authority of Moses and Aaron and God deemed the offense serious enough to allow the earth to open and swallow all of them alive. (Numbers 16:1-33)

Professor Gershom Scholem explains the Kabbalistic doctrine. According to the Kabbalist, God is in confusion, where he consists of one male being and one female being. En-Sof is the male part of God which withdraws, himself into himself and creates a vacuum in his own structure which they call the “Kelipoth” or the “abyss”. The female part of God falls into this “abyss” (Kelipoth) and takes the form of the “Holy Serpent” or “Messiah Essence”. The “Holy Serpent” is also known as “Shekinah”, “Divine Wisdom” or “Sophia”. Surrounded by evil spirits, she is tempted at all times, but at the same time tries to set herself free to climb out from the “abyss” and establish herself as “the messiah” on earth. Earth is part of the creation, and the creation is suspended in the vacuum, which God has created. Meanwhile, En-sof has created human beings on the earth who are capable of setting the Holy Serpent free and bringing her up on the earth. However, only individuals who are trained in the secrets of the Kabbalah can be of help.[1]

SINNING IS SERVING GOD

Thus, the Kabbalistic doctrine states that Lucifer told the elders that when creation was taking place, there was confusion within God and the female portion of him fell into the bottomless abyss and took the form of a “Holy Serpent”, which is also the “Messiah Essence”. It is the duty of the Kabbalist to bring the “Holy Serpent” out of the “abyss” so that she can become the messiah of Israel. The Kabbalists have two ways to achieve this goal:

  1. Destroy all evil on the earth and make it totally good.
  2. Destroy all good on the earth and make it totally evil.

It is harder to make everything good, so it was decided that everything should be made evil. Thus, the Kabbalah teaches that the more a person sins, and leads others to sin the more he is serving god. The Kabbalists support this doctrine by referencing these two verses from the Bible:

“It is time for thee, Lord, to work; for they have made void thy law.” (Psalm 119:126)

“For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.” (Isaiah 28:21)

The Kabbalah is a doctrine of confusion because it claims that the messiah is a “spiritual essence” that reincarnates itself into different men during different centuries/ generations on the earth. The Kabbalah is in reality “Satan’s bible.”

Kabbalists believe that if they can pervert all people on the earth and make them sin by breaking every commandment found in the five books of Moses that will open the legal road for the “Holy Serpent” to escape out of the bottomless abyss and arrive as the “Messiah” on earth. As a result, it is the duty of Kabbalists to sin as much as possible in order to lead all people into a totally depraved lifestyle which will destroy society and create chaos. Out of the chaos they will bring in their type of order. Kabbalists can only succeed in their plan if there are catastrophic events in the world. The followers of the Kabbalah want to bring about an expected end on the earth and this means the “Holy Serpent” must be brought up from the abyss to reign as the Messiah.

TWO MESSIAHS

Thus, God has a Messiah and so does Satan and it is important to differentiate between the two. Satan wants to provide humanity with a counterfeit Messiah which the Kabbalah identifies as the “Holy Serpent”. Thus, there are two movements among the children of Israel, one is from God and the other is from Satan. Satan’s Messiah is not coming to pay for the sins of mankind but to restore the Kingdom of Israel and control the entire world with the Jews ruling over the Gentiles.

Kabbalists believe that the “Holy Serpent” is not a messiah for the whole world, but only for Jews. They believe that only Jews have souls and that the rest of humanity is like cattle, meaning they have no souls and eternal life is not available for them after death. They cite Ezekiel 23:20 as proof of this spurious claim. This prejudicial teaching stating that Gentiles have no souls was so ingrained among the people of Israel that even the apostles refused to preach the Gospel to the Gentiles even though Jesus had commanded them to do so. (Mathew 28:18-20) Jesus had to send an angel to show Peter that the Gospel was indeed for everyone, Jew and Gentile alike, and that all people on earth have souls. (Acts:10:28; 34-48)

Except for a few select men/ mystics (“the initiated”), the Kabbalistic teaching was kept hidden for hundreds of years until Satan found a man in Israel that could enlarge the teaching of the Kabbalah. The man was King Solomon of Israel, the son of King David.

KING SOLOMON

God gave King Solomon an opportunity early in life to ask for anything he wanted, he asked for wisdom instead of asking for forgiveness and salvation as his father, King David, had done in his lifetime. (1 Kings 3:5-14) King Solomon also entered into a covenant with King Hiram of Tyre (Tyrus in Greek) for the lumber and craftsmen which Hiram supplied. In exchange, Solomon gave Hiram 20 cities in the land of Galilee. (1 Kings 9:10-11)

Satan had taken up residency in the city of Tyre, and had ruled the city and its religion by taking possession of the ruling king. The prophet Ezekiel revealed who was behind the king of Tyre. (Ezekiel 28:1-19) Satan changed his place of residence from time to time. The prophet Isaiah revealed that Lucifer had his residence in the city of Babylon. (Isaiah 14:1-21) The Apostle John recorded that Satan had moved his residency to Pergamos, in what is modern day Turkey. (Revelation 2:13)

Satan placed himself in the city of Tyre and possessed the King of Tyre so he would have a physical body to interact with the Kings of Israel. King Hiram of Tyre accommodated requests for cedar trees from Lebanon for both King David and later from King Solomon of Israel. King David was negatively affected and increased his harem after King Hiram of Tyre sent craftsmen to build a house for King David. (2 Samuel 5:10-13) When Solomon became the next king of Israel, King Hiram of Tyre again supplied cedar trees and craftsmen for King Solomon. (1 Kings 5:1-18)

In much the same way as Lucifer initially served God, King Solomon also served God. (Ezekiel 28:13-18; 1 Kings 3:11-14) King Solomon started out in his early years with the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and was used by God to write the books of Proverbs, Ecclesiastics and the Song of Solomon. However, later in life, King Solomon rejected the true and living God and gave his life to Satan. He became deceived, corrupted and had a reprobate mind. After Solomon became king of Israel, he violated (on an unprecedented scale) all the specific commands God had given to kings of Israel. (Deuteronomy 17:14-20) These prohibitions were ignored and disobeyed by King Solomon. (1 Kings 4:26, 30; 10:28; 11:1-4; 2 Chronicles 7:17-22)

“King Solomon made affinity with Pharaoh king of Egypt, and took Pharaoh’s daughter, and brought her into the city of David, until he had made an end of building his own house, and the house of the Lord, and the wall of Jerusalem round about” (1 Kings 3:1)

The influence of the daughter of Pharaoh, king of Egypt was considerable, as she was pre-eminent and most exalted among his wives. Through Solomon’s marriage to the Pharaoh’s daughter, he was able to gain the knowledge and favor of the Egyptians. King Solomon loved the Lord in the beginning of his reign, but turned away from the true path of worship as he grew older.

“But king Solomon loved many strange women, together with the daughter of Pharaoh, women of the Moabites, Ammonites, Edomites, Zidonians, and Hittites: Of the nations concerning which the Lord said unto the children of Israel, Ye shall not go in to them, neither shall they come in unto you: for surely they will turn away your heart after their gods: Solomon clave unto these in love. And he had seven hundred wives, princesses, and three hundred concubines: and his wives turned away his heart. For it came to pass, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned away his heart after other gods: and his heart was not perfect with the Lord his God, as was the heart of David his father. For Solomon went after Ashtoreth, the goddess of the Zidonians, and after Milcom the abomination of the Ammonites. And Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and went not fully after the Lord, as did David his father. Then did Solomon build an high place for Chemosh, the abomination of Moab, in the hill that is before Jerusalem, and for Molech, the abomination of the children of Ammon. And likewise did he for all his strange wives, which burnt incense and sacrificed unto their gods. And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice.” (1 Kings 11:1-9)

King Solomon worshiped Ashtoreth, a Canaanite goddess, who was also known as Ishtar to the Babylonians. She was in charge of sensual love, maternity and fertility worship. Worship of this demon goddess consisted of sexual rites with temple prostitutes. He also worshiped Milcom, which was the name the Ammonites gave to their national god. Worship of this god was similar to that of Molech, a Semitic deity honored by the sacrifice of children, who were burned alive in the fire.[2] Another demon god that King Solomon worshiped was Chemosh, which was the national deity of the Moabites. Worship of Chemosh consisted of rites where children were sacrificed alive into burning flames of fire. King Solomon was involved in sexual worship and participated in the sacrifice of infants and older children who were tortured before they were thrown alive into the fire. Solomon built high places, temples, and altars, for these pagan abominations, for all his foreign wives, and joined them to burn incense and do human sacrifice, and sexual orgies to their gods. He became a wizard or consulter of demons, and walked in forbidden occult powers of darkness, of Lucifer, Satan, the devil.

King Solomon organized a secret movement in Israel that opposed the teaching of Moses and the prophets. As a Satan worshiper, he took the ancient occult teachings and began to develop them into today what is known as the Kabbalah. Thus, he laid the foundation for Kabbalistic worship in Israel.

THE STAR OF DAVID

Numerology plays a significant role in the Kabbalah. King Solomon adopted (reintroduced) the hexagram (6-pointed star) to the Kingdom of Israel from the surrounding pagan nations and it became known as the Seal of Solomon. There is no Biblical or Jewish evidence that traces the hexagram (6-pointed star) to King David of Israel and it is nowhere mentioned in the Bible as the “Star of David”. However, there is evidence that it was used by King Solomon, after he turned to pagan gods and the occult, late in his life and gave himself up to satanic worship and built altars to Ashtoreth and Moloch (Saturn). Moloch, Chiun, and Remphan are all names for the star god, Saturn, whose symbol is a hexagram (6-pointed star) formed by two triangles. The hexagram (6-pointed star) has six points, forms six equilateral triangles, and its interior forms a six-sided hexagon thus it equates to 666.[3] The Bible attributes the number 666 to King Solomon. “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.” (Revelation 13:18)

“Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred threescore and six talents of gold.” (1 Kings 10:14; 2 Chronicles 9:13) That is twenty tons of gold per year!

King Solomon’s worship of Satanic false gods angered God so much, that after Solomon’s death, God split the kingdom of Israel in two (1 Kings 11:9-13)

Originally, Israel adopted the hexagram (6-pointed star) in the wilderness due to their apostasy. The mark of Cain was worshiped by the Israelites in the wilderness as the star of Remphan, which represents the god Saturn, also called Chiun. The Prophet Amos exposed Israel’s idolatry with the (6-pointed star).

“But ye have borne the tabernacle of your Moloch and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.” (Amos 5:26)

Also, the Apostle Stephen (the first martyr of the Christian church) in his defense before the Sanhedrin, warned the Jewish nation about the (6 pointed star), as he reviewed the history of Israel.

“Yea, ye took up the tabernacle of Moloch, and the star of your god Remphan, figures which ye made to worship them: and I will carry you away beyond Babylon.” (Acts 7:43)

The hexagram (6-pointed star) is a very ancient pagan symbol used by many cultures. The oldest known example dates back to the time of Noah, almost 4,400 years ago and one of the most powerful. It is the supreme occult symbol and one of the most powerful that has been used by people throughout history to directly or indirectly worship Satan. The hexagram is used in magic, witchcraft, sorcery, occultism, and alchemy and the casting of zodiacal horoscopes by astrologers. It is considered to possess mysterious powers. The hexagram (6-pointed star) is also an ancient symbol of sexual union and reproduction. The triangle pointing downward represents the female sexual organ, and the upward pointing triangle represents the male phallus. Joined together in the hexagram, they represent sexual union, to paganism and the occult, the union of the active and passive forces of nature.[4] Thus, the hexagram was a part of Satan’s original “sex worship” rites and symbols of the sexually oriented rites and ceremonies of Baalism (i.e. Nimrod and Semiramis, Easter (Astarte) and Baal—Venus (Aphrodite) and Bacchus.

The hexagram was also used in ancient pagan Egypt as a tool to communicate with the dead. However, the Egyptians were actually communicating with demons posing as the dead since the book of Ecclesiastes states that the dead are not able to communicate with the living. (Ecclesiastes 3:19-20 and 9:10)

The hexagram (6-sided star) was used by Babylonian astrologers for Sun Worship. Babylonian astrologers divided the starry heavens into 36 constellations (ten days each). These were represented by different amulets call “Sigilla Solis,” or the Sun Seal.[5] These amulets were worn by pagan priests and they contained all the numbers from 1 to 36. By these figures they claimed to be able to foretell future events. Adding the numbers of any column either horizontally or vertically, and also the two diagonals crossing the square, the total is the same—111. The sum of the six columns, either horizontally or vertically, is 666. So 666 is a number associated with pagan sun-worship, which originated in the mysteries of ancient pagan Babylon. Sun worship, which is really Satan worship, has existed for thousands of years and is still worshiped in modern times by Mystery Babylon, the Roman Catholic Church, and the global elite in the world.

666

King Solomon selected the number 666 as his Kabbalistic identification number. Toward the end of his life, King Solomon accepted worship under this number by requiring that exactly 666 talents of gold be presented to him. (1 Kings 10:14; 2 Chronicles 9:13) He also created a special throne that depicted his Kabbalistic identification number. The throne had six steps and six lions on each side of the steps leading up to the throne where he sat. (1 Kings 10:18-20; 2 Chronicles 9:17-19) Anyone standing in front of King Solomon’s throne would recognize his Kabbalistic identification number “666.”[6]

The number “666” is only specifically mentioned in the Bible. (1 Kings 10:14; 2 Chronicles 9:13; Revelation 13:18)

Revelation 3:18 states that “the number 666 is the number of a man.” The only logical conclusion is that the man was King Solomon. Thus, the Bible ties King Solomon to the Kabbalah, and the system which he developed bears his Kabbalistic number name = 666. (1 Kings 10:14, 18-20) One day this will be the religion of the False Messiah/ Antichrist who will be like a reincarnated King Solomon that unites the world together with his wisdom. (Revelation 13:11-18; 14:9-13; Daniel 11:36-39) The number 666 is “the sacred number/name” of the Kabbalah and is used repeatedly in its writings. At the time of Jesus, the meaning/ significance of the number 666 was general knowledge for the people of Israel and the apostle John relied upon this when he wrote the book of Revelation.

FREEMASONS

The number “666” is considered a sacred number to Kabbalists, Satanists, and Freemasons. Today, the Kabbalah consists of approximately 550 books. The Kabbalah is the doctrine/ theology used in Satanism, Witchcraft, Freemasonry, Rosicrucianism, Theosophy, and all occult religions. The Kabbalah is central to both Judaism and Freemasonry but the majority of Jews and Masons are uninitiated and unaware of its diabolical character and intent. Solomon is revered among Freemasons as a grand master and for hundreds of years; they have worked to rebuild the temple of Solomon.

Albert Pike, the founder of the Scottish Rite of Freemasonry wrote the following: “Whatever Hiram really was, he is the type, perhaps an imaginary type, to us, of humanity in its highest phase; an exemplar of what a man, may and should become, in the course of ages in his progress toward the realization of his destiny; an individual gifted with a glorious intellect, a noble soul, a fine organization, and a perfectly balanced moral being; an earnest of what humanity may be, and what we believe it will hereafter be in God’s good time; the possibility of the race made real.”[7]

The Bible identified King Hiram as being possessed by Satan and the Freemasons hail him as an example of what man should strive to become. The influence Hiram had on King Solomon forever changed the people of Israel and brought them into a deep state of depravity.

This is what Albert Pike said about King Solomon in ‘The Ritual of the Degree of Kabbalistic and Hermetic Rosicrucian’: “The true Philosophy known and practiced by Solomon, is the basis on which Masonry is founded, Our Ancient Masons have concealed from us the most important point of this Divine Art, under hieroglyphical characters, which are but enigmas and parables, to all the Senseless, the Wicked, and the Ambitious.” What Albert Pike is saying is that the wickedness of King Solomon was the foundation of freemasonry. In the teaching of the 28th degree of Scottish Rite Freemasonry, Pike makes the following statement: “Masonry is the search after Light. That search leads us directly back, as you see, to the Kabbalah. In that ancient and little understood medley of absurdity and philosophy the Initiate will find the source of many doctrines; and may in time come to understand the Hermetic philosophers, the Alchemists, all the Anti-papal Thinkers of the Middle Ages and Emanuel Swedenborg.” The Hermetic philosophers and Alchemists were the masters of the occult and Swedenborg was a grand master of Satanism.

Satan used Solomon to accomplish two things: develop a written doctrine of the Kabbalah and create a human organization that would perpetuate itself. Satan wanted a small cabal of dedicated men who would swear allegiance and worship him. These men could not be loyal to their wives, children, or a nation. They had to devote their body and soul to Lucifer’s cause and lying became a way of life for them. In order to make the organization perpetual, new men would have to be recruited and trained who were willing to sell their souls to the Satan. The ultimate goal of the organization was to bring their messiah up from the bottomless pit and establish a world government under the leadership of Lucifer. The men were told not to expect fulfillment in their lifetime, but to keep working and lay the foundation. Satan only has one religious program (Kabbalah) and this same pattern has been used by various occult organizations & secret societies such as: the Illuminati, Jesuits, Rosicrucians, Freemasons, Witchcraft, Theosophy, Templars, Satanists, etc.

KING HEZEKIAH

Approximately 200 years after King Solomon’s death, King Hezekiah became the 12th king on the throne in Jerusalem. He read the scriptures from the Old Testament and understood what Moses had written down in Genesis through Deuteronomy was not the same as what King Solomon had developed in his Kabbalistic system. Hezekiah broke away from the Kabbalistic system of Solomon and re-established the true worship of God in Jerusalem. (2 Kings 18:1-7) The abominations that King Hezekiah destroyed were the places of fertility and child sacrifices held on hilltops, where the fallen priests had planted groves of trees to cover the rituals from the common people. In the midst of these groves, they had placed altars and statues of different deities that Solomon had introduced to the nation of Israel. The centerpiece of this demonic worship was the burning of incense to the brazen serpent that Moses had made approximately 850 years earlier.

Over time, this brazen serpent had become an idol/relic that the people of Israel worshiped. To the Kabbalists it represented the Holy Serpent in the abyss and Hezekiah realized it had to be destroyed. He knew the Kabbalistic system was an abomination induced by Satan, and by destroying the brazen serpent and all the altars, Hezekiah hoped this false teaching would be destroyed. However, after Hezekiah’s death, his son, Manasseh revived the Kabbalistic doctrine and helped spread it even further. (2 Kings 21:1-6; 2 Chronicles 33:1-25) It was early during Manasseh’s reign that he had Isaiah murdered, by sawing him asunder. (Hebrews 11:37) This bronze serpent was initially a blessing for the people of Israel because it symbolized the Messiah to come. By looking up at the serpent on the pole, the people were healed from the bites of the fiery serpents that God had sent into the camp as punishment for their sins. (Numbers 21:5-9) Jesus referred to this incident when he spoke to the people of Israel. (John 3:12-16)

The heretical teachings in the Kabbalah directly contradict the teachings in the Bible (Old Testament). About 180 years after the reign of Solomon, the Kabbalistic doctrine had permeated the rabbinical system in Israel and God spoke through the prophet Isaiah, who repudiated the Kabbalistic doctrine that Solomon had developed

“Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)

“Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the Lord, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us? Surely your turning of things upside down shall be esteemed as the potter’s clay: for shall the work say of him that made it, He made me not? or shall the thing framed say of him that framed it, He had no understanding?” (Isaiah 29:15-16)

There are other references of Isaiah rebuking the Kabbalistic doctrine. (Isaiah 5:11-25; 28:14-18; 29:13-16; 30:1-15; 59:1-5, 20) God spoke through Isaiah and addressed the leadership in Jerusalem and called the city Sodom and its people as the citizens of Gomorrah. (Isaiah 1:4-15) God wanted justice in the court system of Judah. He wanted repentance and said the people would perish if they did not comply with the word from the Lord. (Isaiah 1:16-23)

Isaiah had a fantastic experience when he was lifted up to heaven and saw the throne room of God and was given a personal call from God to become his servant. (Isaiah 6:1-8) However, it was a bittersweet calling because there was the honor to serve the Lord, but grief because the people of Israel rejected the truth of God. Israel turned to the oral traditions and Kabbalah and the worship of heathen gods and were given over to judgment. Therefore, God rejected Israel and God “blinded” Israel to understanding the truths of God. (Hosea 4:6; Isaiah 6:9-13; 29:10-16; 53:1; Matthew 13:10-17; John 12:38-43) During Jesus’ earthly ministry, he began to teach in parables after he was rejected by the Pharisees and other leaders of Israel and the majority of the Jewish people due to their unbelief and doctrine of oral traditions and Kabbalah. (Matthew 13:10-17)

Jesus said he spoke in parables to keep the unbelieving world from understanding the truth. He also said that the truth is easily seen by believing eyes. The apostle Paul quotes Isaiah and states that the Jews in general have been temporarily blinded by God and the salvation of God is therefore sent to the Gentiles and that they will hear it until the times of the Gentiles is fulfilled. (Acts 28:23-31; Isaiah 6:9-10; Acts 13:46; Jeremiah 27:6; Habakkuk 1:11; Luke 21:24; Romans 11:1-36; Revelation 11:2) In addition, God will use the Gentiles to provoke the Jews to jealousy. (Deuteronomy 32:21; Romans 10:19)

THE DESTRUCTION OF ISRAEL AND JUDAH

About 160 years after Isaiah had warned the people of Israel, God judged the ten northern tribes and they were taken into captivity by the Assyrians. God also spoke through Jeremiah who was a prophet to the Kingdom of Judah to expose the evil of the Kabbalah. Jeremiah informed the people of Israel that they had committed two sins when they forsook God and invented their own system. (Jeremiah 2:12-13) Through Jeremiah, God called upon his people numerous times when He tried to spare the city of Jerusalem from falling to the Babylonians. (Jeremiah 7:1-11) However, the people refused and continued to worship the “Queen of Heaven” which is another name for the female part of the Kabbalistic god. (Jeremiah 7:13-20) Jeremiah prophesied many strong warnings. (Jeremiah 9, 10, 11, 19, 20, 30) However, Judah did not heed Jeremiah’s warning and God sent the Babylonians in 587 B.C. to destroy Jerusalem and carry them into captivity. (Jeremiah 25, 39, 52)

The prophet Ezekiel lived at the same time as Jeremiah but lived in Babylon. He cried out against the Jewish leadership and their religion of the Kabbalah. (Ezekiel 22:23-31) He also rebuked them for their worship of the sun god and Tammuz. (Ezekiel 8:9-18)

Other prophets also exposed and rebuked the doctrine of the Kabbalah. (Amos 5:14-15, 18; Malachi 2:8-9, 17; 3:3-7, 14-15; 4:4; Micah 2, 3, 6, 7)

JESUS AND JOHN THE BAPTIST KNEW ABOUT THE KABBALAH

The worship of the Holy Serpent is central in the Kabbalistic/Talmudic system of Judaism. This was a well-known fact among the people living in the land of Israel when John the Baptist and Jesus walked on the earth. John the Baptist confronted the Jewish leadership (Pharisees and Sadducees) and called out their real name “generation of vipers.” (Matthew 3:4-10) Jesus was aware of the Kabbalistic teaching and he also confronted the Jewish leadership (Pharisees) and exposed them as “generation of vipers.” (Matthew 12:34; 23:13-33) Jesus addressed seven churches in the Book of Revelation. He said that the synagogues in Smyrna and Philadelphia were “synagogues of Satan.” These were Kabbalistic synagogues where people worshiped Satan and had abandoned the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. (Revelation 2:9; 3:9)

The Apostle Stephen (the first martyr of the Christian church) in his defense before the Sanhedrin, exposed the doctrine of the Talmud and Kabbalah. (Acts 7:51-53)

The Jewish Kabbalistic leadership has worked tirelessly to usher in their false messiah for over 2,000 years. Both prior to Jesus and after Jesus, a number of different Jewish men have claimed to be the Jewish Messiah or their followers have claimed that they were the Messiah. Many of these false messiahs were influenced by the doctrines of the Talmud and Kabbalah and claimed to have supernatural powers that they did not possess, attempted to set up an earthly kingdom by force for the Jewish people, were killed and did not rise from the dead.

Prior to Jesus, Theudas and Judas of Galilee were two Jewish men who each declared themselves to be the messiah. They gathered a following based on a promise to “reconquer the promised land” the popular idea of the time being that the messiah would overthrow Rome. However, Theudas and Judas of Galilee were both killed by the Romans. (Acts 5:34-37)

SIMON BAR KOKHBA

A century after Jesus (132-136 A.D.), large numbers of Palestinian Jews followed Simon bar Kokhba, a would-be messiah, in a revolt against the Romans. He was a charismatic, brilliant, but a brutal warlord who fought a war against the Roman Empire, catching the Tenth Legion by surprise and retaking Jerusalem. He resumed sacrifices at the site of the temple and made plans to rebuild the temple. He established a provisional government and issued coins in its name. Ultimately, the Roman empire crushed his revolt and the Jews suffered a devastating defeat. Simon bar Kokhba was killed in battle and many Jews were disbursed throughout the Roman Empire to lessen the chances of another revolt.

MOSES OF CRETE

Moses of Crete (440-470 A.D.). After the failed Bar Kakhba war, there was an end to Messianic movements for several centuries. However, the hope of a coming messiah nonetheless continued. In accordance with one interpretation of the Talmud, the Messiah was expected in 440 or 471. This expectation in connection with the disturbances in the Roman Empire raised hopes in a messiah claimant who appeared about this time in Crete, and who won the Jews there to his movement. He called himself Moses, and promised to lead the people, like the ancient Moses, through the sea back to Palestine. His followers, convinced of his claim, left all their possessions and waited for the promised day; upon which they followed Moses to a promontory overlooking the sea and at his command cast themselves off - where many drowned or were destroyed on the rocks below. Then Moses himself immediately disappeared.

OTHER FALSE MESSIAHS

Ishak ben Yakub (684-705 A.D.) He claimed to be the forerunner of the Messiah and that God had appointed him to free Israel. He gathered a large number of followers and rebelled against the caliph in Persia but he was defeated and slain.

David Alroy was born in (1160 A.D.) in Iraq under the Hebrew name Menaḥem ben Solomon, but adopted the name “David Alroy” (“Alroy” possibly meaning “the inspired one”) when he began claiming to be the Messiah. His impressive appearance, scholastic excellence (founded on studies in the Talmudic academies of Baghdad), his familiarity with Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah), and his skill in sorcery, all combined to win him a large and devoted following. He led an uprising against the Sultan and called upon the oppressed Jewish community to follow him to Jerusalem where he would be their king and free the Jews from the hands of the Muslims. He was able to convince many Jewish people to join him and he soon found himself with a considerable following. He resolved to attack the citadel of his native town, Amadiya, and directed his supporters to assemble in that city, with swords and other weapons concealed under their robes, and to give, as a pretext for their presence, their desire to study the Talmud. It is believed that Alroy and his followers were defeated, and Alroy was put to death. Despite Alroy’s death, Jewish communities in Iran continued to regard him as their messiah.

Around 1250 in Spain, a Jewish rabbi and scholar on the Kabbalah by the name of Moses ben Shem-Tov de Leon, announced to the Jewish community that he had found a commentary on the Pentateuch (Five Books of Moses), which had been written by Rabbi Simon bar Yochai sometime after the last Jewish rebellion against Rome from 132-135 A.D. According to Jewish tradition (the Talmud), Rabbi Simon lived in a cave for 12 years to hide from the Roman government. Angels came and instructed him to the true meaning of the five books of Moses and he wrote down the revelations given to him. Rabbi Moses ben Shem-Tov published the book under the name “Zohar,” which means brilliance. In 1492 the government of Spain expelled all Jews, and Spanish and Portuguese Jews settled in Jerusalem and Safed, Palestine a village at the Sea of Galilee. Safed became the center of Jewish Kabbalism. The rabbinical scholars in Safed began to openly practice the Kabbalah and develop its strong messianic emphasis. The teaching that the coming messiah could be sped up became strongly emphasized. Today, Safed is still a Kabbalistic center.

David Reubeni (1490-1541 A.D.) and Solomon Molcho (1500-1532 A.D) worked together in Portugal, Italy and Turkey, declaring themselves to be messiahs. Solomon Molcho, (born Diogo Pires) was the son of Marrano parents (Portuguese or Spanish Jews forced to become Christians). Pires attained the position of royal secretary in a Portuguese high court of justice. When an Arabian adventurer, David Reubeni, arrived in Portugal, Pires became possessed by mystic visions and was convinced that Reubeni was an augur of the Jewish messiah, the divinely chosen leader who would destroy the enemies of the Jews and initiate the Golden Age. Reubeni, claiming to be the brother of an Arabian Jewish king, had asked the Portuguese king for weapons so that he could lead a Jewish army to drive the Turks out of Palestine. Pires circumcised himself, took the name Solomon Molcho, and approached Reubeni, telling him of his conversion and desire to openly espouse Judaism.

He was rebuffed, however, by Reubeni. Molcho left Portugal and for a time lived in Salonika, Turkey, where he joined a circle of Kabbalists. He began to preach that the messiah would arise in 1540 and published several sermons. After dwelling for a time in Safed, Palestine, he went to Rome (1529) and managed to win Pope Clement VII’s protection from the Inquisition. Preaching at the great synagogue in Rome, Molcho accurately predicted two natural catastrophes — a flood in Rome (1530) and an earthquake in Portugal (1531). In the meantime, Reubeni had come to Rome and joined forces with Molcho. In 1532, they went to Germany to see Emperor Charles V in a vain attempt to persuade him to arm the Marranos against the Turks. Charles imprisoned them and turned them over to the Inquisition. Given the choice of returning to Christianity, Molcho refused and was burned at the stake. Reubeni died in prison.

Isaac ben Solomon Luria (1534-1572 A.D.) was a German-Jewish Rabbi who moved to Safed and propelled the development of the Kabbalah. He considered himself to be the “Messiah, the son of Joseph” who according to Jewish legend would precede the real Messiah the son of David. He spread the message among the Jews that the Jewish Messiah would begin to rule in 1648. He developed the Kabbalistic teaching that a soul will be born many times on the earth (reincarnation), and would sometimes inhabit an animal as well as a human body in other cycles. Luria did not write much but his doctrine was written down by his disciples. The teachings of Rabbi Luria spread throughout the Jewish Diaspora, and by 1632, Lurian Kabbalism had influenced the spiritual life of Jews, including their literature and religious rituals. Mixed with the Kabbalah was the teaching of the Talmud, which taught that Gentiles had no value, a child under the age of three could be sexually molested with no consequences, and that it was legal for Jews to lie and cheat Gentiles out of property. The Kabbalists went even further and lived as sinful as possible in order to serve God. Luria laid the groundwork for Sabbatai Sevi.

Sabbatai Sevi (1626-1676 A.D.) and Abraham Nathan of Gaza (1643-1680). As the year 1666 was approaching, the Kabbalistic leadership in Safed decided the time had come to take over the world. The man that was selected to be the messiah was Rabbi Sabbatai Sevi and Rabbi Abraham Nathan of Gaza was to be his prophet.[8]

Sabbatai began preaching that he was the messiah and Nathan backed up his claims with supernatural power to heal the sick and when they laid hands on people, they lost control and fell to the ground. Sabbatai declared himself the Messiah in 1666.[9] He proclaimed redemption was available through acts of sin, and he amassed a following of over one million passionate believers, about half the world’s Jewish population during the 17th century. Sabbatai’s adherents planned to abolish many ritualistic observances, because, according to the Talmud, holy obligations would no longer apply in the Messianic time. Fasting days became days of feasting and rejoicing. Sabbateans encouraged and practiced sexual promiscuity, adultery, incest and religious orgies. Letters were sent to the different Jewish settlements in Europe, Babylon and North Africa and the majority of the Jews accepted Sabbatai as their messiah. Sabbatai and a group of his followers traveled to Constantinople in 1666 to confront the sultan, the ruler over the Ottoman Empire and demand that he would surrender to Sabbatai.

Instead of surrendering, the sultan had Sabbatai arrested and after some time he was given the ultimatum of converting to Islam or being executed. Sabbatai chose to convert to Islam and was set free. This caused a shockwave among the Jews that had accepted Sabbatai as the messiah, but then Nathan declared that Sabbatai had committed the worst sin possible in order to pay for the sins of all Jews. Nathan told the Jews that according to the Kabbalah, Sabbatai had served God by sinning. Nathan urged all followers of Sabbatai to convert to the religion of the nation in which they lived but to secretly retain their Kabbalistic beliefs. They were to secretly remain Kabbalistic Jews and renounce the pagan religions they had converted to on their death beds. Millions of Jews did so and they became known as “crypto Jews.” Some of the most famous crypto Jews were the British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli (1804-1881) and Karl Marx (1818-1883), the founder of Communism. After Sabbati Sevi’s death, a number of different men became his successors with the most infamous being, Jacob Frank.

Jacob Querido (1650-1690 A.D.) he was the brother of the fourth wife of Sabbatai Sevi. He claimed he was the incarnation of Sabbatai Sevi and became the head of the Sabbatean (a Kabbalistic) movement. He pretended to be Sabbatai’s son and adopted the name Jacob Tzvi. He formed a sect call the Donmeh which still has followers today. After his death his son Berechiah succeeded him (c. 1695–1740).

Abraham Miguel Cardoso (1626-1706 A.D.) was born in Spain and educated as a physician. He married two wives, and began to devote himself to Kabbalistic speculations. With the appearance of Sabbatai Sevi (Sabbatean movement), he assumed the character of a prophet, pretending to have had dreams and visions, and sent circulars in all directions to support the Messianic claim of Sabbatai Sevi. Cardoso believed that Sabbati Sevi was the Messiah even after Sabbatai embraced Islam. He justified his belief in Sabbati stating that it was necessary for Sabbati to be counted among the sinners, in order that he might atone for Israel’s sins. Later, Cardoso gave himself out as “Messiah ben Ephraim”, asserting that the Messiah is he who teaches the true conception of God. This conception Cardoso expounded in nearly all his writings: that the true God is not the “En-Sof”, but the “Keter ‘Elyon”, the first being a passive power which has no connection with the world. Cardoso was the author of many Kabbalistic works. Cardoso was very eloquent and had many followers, but many enemies as well. In 1703 he settled at Cairo and became the physician of a dignitary of Egypt. Three years later, in 1706, he was assassinated by his nephew during a discussion on money matters.

Judah Leibele Prossnitz (1670-1750 A.D.) was born in Moravia and took the name “messiah ben Joseph.” He was a Sabbatean and a Kabbalist. He married and earned a livelihood by peddling in the neighboring villages. On account of his poverty, he occupied a deserted hovel, which was reputed to be haunted. One night he promised to summon the Shekhina to appear at midnight in a large gathering. He stretched across his room a perforated curtain, behind which he had secretly lighted a mixture of alcohol and turpentine. He himself, robed in white, stood behind the curtain, and the light brought out in full relief the gilt letters of the Tetragrammaton, which he had placed on his breast. The spectators were disposed to believe in a miracle, when someone present, pulled down the curtain and exposed the fraud. Prossnitz was excommunicated by the rabbis of Moravia. In spite of all, Prossnitz found many followers among the Sabbateans. He proclaimed himself the Messiah ben Joseph, and signed his name “Joseph ben Jacob.” He wandered from city to city in Austria and Germany, where many persons supplied him with funds. In 1725 the excommunication was renewed, and he moved to Hungary where he died.

Jacob Frank (1726-1791 A.D.) was a Polish Jew who declared he was the reincarnation of Sabbatai and also of the biblical patriarch Jacob. He expanded upon and continued Sabbatai Sevi’s Kabbalistic occult philosophy. In about 1751 he proclaimed himself the messiah and four years later, in Poland, formed a sect that held that certain elect persons are exempt from the moral law. This sect abandoned traditional Judaism for a “higher Torah” (Jewish Law) based on the Zohar, which is the most important work in the Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical movement. Hence, its members also called themselves Zoharists or Frankists. He, like Zevi, would perform “strange acts” that violated traditional religious taboos, such as eating fats forbidden by Jewish dietary laws, ritual sacrifice, and promoting orgies and sexual immorality. He often slept with his followers, as well as his own daughter, while preaching a doctrine that the best way to imitate God was to cross every boundary, transgress every taboo, and mix the sacred with the profane. Like Sabbateans, Frankists believe sin is holy and should be practiced for its own sake. Jacob Frank eventually entered into an alliance with Adam Weishaupt and Meyer Amshel Rothschild. The objectives of this organization were to undermine the world’s religions and power structures, in an effort to usher in a utopian era of global communism. Hebrew University of Jerusalem Professor Gershom Scholem called Jacob Frank, “one of the most frightening phenomena in the whole of Jewish history.”

Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn (1880-1950 A.D.) was the sixth Rebbe (Rabbi) of Chabad Lubavitch, who claimed he was the messiah. Chabad Lubavitch is an Orthodox Jewish Hasidic movement that follows the doctrines of the Talmud and Kabbalah. Chabad is one of the world’s best-known Hasidic movements, particularly for its outreach activities. It is one of the largest Hasidic groups and Jewish religious organizations in the world. Founded in 1775 by Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi, the name “Chabad” is a Hebrew acronym for Chochmah, Binah, Da’at: “Wisdom, Understanding, and Knowledge”, which represent the intellectual underpinnings of the movement. The name Lubavitch derives from the Russian village of Lyubavichi in which the now-dominant line of leaders resided from 1813 to 1915. Other, non- Lubavitch off-shoots of Chabad either disappeared or merged into the Lubavitch line. In the 1930s, the sixth Rebbe (Rabbi) of Chabad, Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn, moved the center of the Chabad movement from Russia to Poland. After the outbreak of World War II, he relocated the center of the movement to Brooklyn, New York. Chabad Lubavitch is concerned with every aspect of Jewish life, whether physical or spiritual, and its doctrines are built upon “Lurianic Kabbalah” which is the Zohar and Kabbalah as developed by Rabbi Isaac Luria (1534-1572).

Menachem Mendel Schneersohn (1902-1994 A.D.) was an Orthodox Jewish Rabbi, the son-in-law of Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn and the seventh Rebbe (Rabbi) of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement. He was a Russian born Jew, who in 1941, came to New York with his wife and eventually became the leader of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement, which currently has some 200,000 Jewish hardcore members. During his lifetime, Menachem Mendel Schneersohn hinted that he was the Jewish messiah, and after his death, his followers expected him to be resurrected and finish the redemptive work as the messiah. He transformed the movement into one of the most widespread Jewish movements in the world today. Under his leadership, Chabad established a large network of institutions that provide religious, social and humanitarian needs across the world. Chabad institutions provide outreach to unaffiliated Jews and humanitarian aid, as well as religious, cultural and educational activities. Unlike most ultra-Orthodox groups, which are self-segregating,

Chabad operates mainly in the wider world and caters to secularized Jews. In 2005 the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs reported that up to one million Jews attend Chabad services at least once a year. Beginning in 1978 with U.S. President Jimmy Carter a delegation of Chabad Lubavitch leading Rabbis have met each year with every U.S. President in the oval office for the signing of a proclamation commemorating the anniversary of the birth of their leader Rebbe/ Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson and marking the day as “Education Day, U.S.A.”[10 11]

In March 1991, as part of “Education Day, U.S.A”, both houses of Congress passed a bill H.J. Res 104, which was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush and became Public Law No. 102-14.[12]

The language of the law asserts that the “Seven Noahide Laws” (Talmudic Laws) are the ethical values of civilized society and are the basis on which the American nation was founded and that without these Seven Noahide Laws society stands in peril. It also states that it is our nation’s responsibility to transmit these ethical values to the generations of the future and that in the future the President of the United States will sign an “international scroll” pledging to return the world to the Seven Noahide Laws through education and charity. The law also celebrates the birthday of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, the leader of the Chabad Lubavitch movement who along with this organization has been dedicated to spreading and fostering the Seven Noahide Laws in society. In 1994, he was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his “outstanding and lasting contributions toward improvements in world education, morality, and acts of charity.” Schneerson’s burial place attracts Jews and non-Jews for prayer and those awaiting his resurrection.

According to Rabbi Solomon Grayzel, the Jewish population at the time of Christ was around 5.7 million.[13] There were 2.5 million Jews living in Judea, Samaria and Galilee, 1 million lived in Babylon, 1 million lived in Egypt, 1 million lived in Asia Minor and Antioch, one hundred thousand lived in the province of Cyrene (now known as Libya) and another hundred thousand lived in Italy.

THE CORRUPTION OF THE WORD OF GOD

By the time Jesus walked on the earth, the timeless instructions given to Adam, Moses, the Judges, and prophets had been corrupted by the Scribes, Rabbis, Pharisees and Sadducees. (Matthew 16:12) The Kabbalists had infiltrated both the Pharisees and the Sadducees and had become a secret organization within other organizations. The Jewish people had been led to believe in the Talmud and the Kabbalah in the 400 years before Jesus was born. As a result, during the lifetime of Jesus, he had to operate in a hostile environment. This included a corrupt Roman occupying government and crooked Jewish religious leaders and political operators from different parties such as: the high priest, the Sanhedrin, the Pharisees, the Sadducees, the Scribes, the Rabbis, the Elders, the Herodians, and the Zealots.

Caiaphas was a Sadducee and the high priest, and not only was he doctrinally corrupt, he had also turned the temple ceremonies into a money-making enterprise, fleecing the people who came to worship and sacrifice. People were not allowed to bring their own animals to be sacrificed; they had to be purchased at the temple court at inflated prices. It got worse as people were not allowed to use regular money in the temple because the high priest had ruled it was not clean. Caiaphas and his staff coined their own temple money which could be exchanged for real money at an exchange rate that defrauded the people, and then this temple money was used to purchase a sacrificial animal at an exorbitant price. Jesus called them thieves. (Mark 11:15-18)

As the high priest, Caiaphas was also the head of the Sanhedrin, which had its own militia to carry out the court verdicts. (Matthew 26:47) Nicodemus was a member of the Sanhedrin and objected to their treatment of Jesus, later becoming follower of Jesus. (John 3:1; 7:45-53; 19:39) Joseph of Arimathea was also a member of the Sanhedrin and he too became a follower of Jesus. (Luke 23:50-53; John 19:38) The scribes colluded with the High Priest and his staff; evidence of this can be seen with the leading scribes present at the Sanhedrin trial of Jesus. (Matthew 26:57-60)

THE SANHEDRIN

The ancient Jewish court system was called the Sanhedrin. The word “Sanhedrin” is a Greek term meaning “assembly” or “council” and is the name given in the Mishna/Talmud. The Great Sanhedrin was the supreme religious body in the Land of Israel during the time of the Holy Temple. There were also smaller religious Sanhedrins in every town in the Land of Israel, as well as a civil political-democratic Sanhedrin. The Great Sanhedrin was the Supreme Court and legislative body of Israel. It was one of the principal forces in Israel, both in politics and in religion. Their members were involved with governing the people, functioning as a high court, and in controlling the worship of the Lord upon the Temple mount. They were the supreme religious governing body to the Jews in Israel, even when they were under foreign control and governorship by major empires. The Great Sanhedrin was a religious assembly of 71 sages who met in the Chamber of Hewn Stones in the Temple in Jerusalem. The Great Sanhedrin met every day except for the Sabbath and holy days. It was the final authority on Jewish law and scriptural interpretations (oral traditions) and any scholar who went against its decisions was put to death as a rebellious elder.

The Sanhedrin was led by a president and a vice president. The other 69 sages sat in a semicircle facing the leaders. It is unclear whether the leaders included the high priest. The Sanhedrin judged accused lawbreakers, but could not initiate arrests. It required a minimum of two witnesses to convict a suspect. There were no attorneys. Instead, the accusing witness stated the offense in the presence of the accused and the accused could call witnesses on his own behalf. The court questioned the accused, the accusers and the defense witnesses. The Sanhedrin started growing greatly in its power and influence during the Babylonian captivity. By the time of Jesus, when the Jews were back in their homeland, the council was serving as the nation’s supreme court of justice. In approximately 7 A.D. the Romans abolished the power of the Sanhedrin to carry out the death penalty, fulfilling the prophecy in Genesis 49:10 that stated the Messiah would not come until “the scepter departs from Judah.”

Thus, when the Sanhedrin decided that Jesus deserved the death penalty, they had to send Him to the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, in order to get the verdict carried out. (Matthew 27:1-2) The Sanhedrin also persecuted the early church. Following the healing of the man at the temple gate in Peter and John stood trial before the Sanhedrin. (Acts 3)

“So they called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus.” (Acts 4:18)

In Acts chapter five, the Sanhedrin arrested the apostles.

“And when they had called in the apostles, they beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. Then they left the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer dishonor for the name.” (Acts 5:40-41)

The apostles were not dismayed or stopped!

“And every day, in the temple and from house to house, they did not cease teaching and preaching that the Christ is Jesus.” (Acts 5:42)

In Acts chapters 6-7, the Sanhedrin was responsible for the stoning of Stephen. When Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D., the Jews who survived were scattered. The Jewish Oral Torah Sages reconvened at Tiberias where the Sanhedrin Council continued to meet until 425 AD.

THE PHARISEES

The Pharisees were an influential conservative religious movement within Judaism and also a political party. They were known for their emphasis on personal piety (the word Pharisee comes from a Hebrew word meaning “separated”). They tried to pay for their sins through rituals and were waiting for the Messiah to come and overthrow the Romans. The Pharisees’ main distinguishing characteristic was a belief in an Oral Law (Oral Torah) that they said God gave to Moses and the Elders at Mt. Sinai along with the Written Law (Written Torah). The Pharisees believed that God also gave Moses the knowledge of what these laws meant and how they should be applied. The Oral Laws changed/ evolved over the centuries.

Jesus applied the condemnation of Isaiah to the Pharisees, saying, “Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition”(Isaiah 29:13-14; Mark 7:9). Jesus read the Old Testament from Hebrew scrolls and was dogmatic that not one jot or tittle should be removed from Word. (Matthew 5:17-19)

The Pharisees were mostly middle-class businessmen and leaders and controlled the synagogues. Although they were a minority in the Sanhedrin and held a minority number of positions as priests, they controlled the decision-making of the Sanhedrin because they had popular support among the people. The Pharisees had the masses for their allies, the women were especially devoted to them. They held the greatest authority over the congregations, so that everything to do with worship, prayers, and sacrifice took place according to their instructions. Their popularity is said to have been so high that they were listened to even when they criticized the king or the high priest. For the same reason, also, the Sadducees in their official functions complied with the pharisaic requirements because otherwise the people would not have tolerated them. The Pharisees were deeply into the doctrines of the Oral Law or Oral Torah (today known as the Talmud) and the occult mystical traditions known today as Kabbalah. The Pharisees continually clashed with Jesus, who rebuked and rejected their doctrines. (Matthew 23:1-35; 15:1-9; Mark 7:1-13)

The high priest, Caiaphas and the rest of the members of the Sanhedrin were also Talmudic/ Kabbalistic Jews. Because of their Oral Laws, they were not believers in the messianic prophecies of the future Messiah that are firmly taught in the Old Testament. (Isaiah 53:1-10; Psalm 2)

Jesus told the Jews “Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.” (John 5:39) and “For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me: for he wrote of me. But if ye believe not his writings, how shall you believe my words?” (John 5:46-47)

Jesus rebukes the scribes and Pharisees stating “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you compass sea and land to make one proselyte, and when he is made, you make him twofold more the child of hell than yourselves.” (Matthew 23:15)

In this passage, Jesus exposes the scribes and Pharisees practice of converting gentiles to Judaism (the Oral Law and Kabbalah). A proselyte was an individual that comes over from a foreign nation, religion, or sect as a convert. Among the Jews there were two kinds of proselytes:

1.) “Proselytes of righteousness,” or those who wholly and fully embraced the Jewish religion, who were baptized, who were circumcised, and who conformed to all the rites of the Mosaic institutions.

2.) “Proselytes of the gate,” or those who approved of the Jewish religion, renounced the pagan superstitions, and conformed to some of the rites of the Jews, but were not circumcised or baptized. Twofold more the child of hell meant twice as bad. To be a child of hell was a Hebrew phrase, signifying to be deserving of hell, to be awfully wicked. The Pharisees gained them either to swell their own numbers or to make gain by extorting their money under various presences; and when they had accomplished that, they took no pains to instruct them or to restrain them. They had renounced their superstition which had before somewhat restrained them, but the Pharisees had given them no religion in its place to restrain them, and they were consequently left to the full indulgence of their vices. In the Revelation of the Apostle John, he also exposes those who are proselytes of Judaism in the following two verses:

“I know thy works, and tribulation, and poverty, (but thou art rich) and I know the blasphemy of them which say they are Jews, and are not, but are the synagogue of Satan.” (Revelation 2:9)

“Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee.” (Revelation 3:9)

When Jesus healed a man that was blind and dumb, the Pharisees told the Jewish people that Jesus had done this miracle by the power of Beelzebub, the prince of devils. (Matthew 12:22-24) After the Pharisees accused Jesus of performing miracles by the power of Beelzebub, Jesus taught about the sin of Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 12:31-37) Jesus explained that the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is deliberately refusing to give credit to God for the works of the Holy Spirit. Meaning you ascribe the acts of God to Satan and give Satan credit for the works of God. The Talmud and Kabbalah teach that Jesus did his miracles by the power of Satan (witchcraft, magic).

The Jewish people believed that Jesus was demon possessed. (John 7:11-20) This is also blasphemy. In this passage, Jesus asks the Jews “Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? (John 7:19) The Jewish leadership accused Jesus of being a Samaritan and having a devil. (John 8:48-59) This is also blasphemy. At the time of Christ, the Jewish leadership rejected the Samaritans and regarded them as unclean and bastards, because they were mixed with pagan Gentiles and were only half Jewish. The Northern Kingdom of Israel was conquered by Assyria in 722 B.C. and most of the 10 northern tribes were carried off into captivity where they intermarried with Gentiles. Thousands of the descendants of the ten tribes had come back into the land by the time of Christ and settled into the section between Galilee and Judah, which became known as Samaria. They had returned to worship the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob but the Jewish leadership forbade them from coming and worshiping at the temple in Jerusalem. (John 4:9) Over the centuries, the Samaritans evolved into a group of people who today are called “Palestinians.”

The Jews also accused Jesus of blasphemy when he said “I am the Son of God.” (John 10:30-38) The high priest accused Jesus of blasphemy for calling himself “The Son of Man.” (Matthew 26:63-66) According to the Oral Laws and Kabbalah, Jesus made Himself equal with God when he claimed to be “The Christ, the Son of God.” (Matthew 26:63-64) Tis blasphemy was punishable by death. (Matthew 26:65-66) The Jewish leadership persuaded the Jewish people that Jesus should be crucified. (Matthew 27:11-25) The Jewish people stated “His blood be upon us, and our children.” (Matthew 27:25)

The Jewish leadership called Jesus a deceiver and had soldiers to guard the tomb so that the disciples could not steal the body. When Jesus rose from the dead, they bribed the soldiers and told them to say that the disciples had stolen the body. (Matthew 27:62-66; 28:11-15) The Jewish leadership had to conduct damage control once Jesus rose from the dead and tried to stop the apostles from spreading the news that Jesus was the Messiah. (Acts 4)

Before his conversion, Saul of Tarsus was a Pharisee (following the Oral Laws and Kabbalah) and persecuting those who believed Jesus was the Messiah. (Acts 8:1-4; 9:1-43; 26:5; 1 Corinthians 15:9; Philippians 3:4-8; Galatians 1:13-17; 1 Timothy 1:11-16) After Saul’s (Paul’s) conversion, he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the written law of Moses, and out of the prophets and not from the Oral Laws. (Acts 28:23) Some of the Jewish Christians who knew about the Kabbalah falsely accused the apostle Paul of continuing to be a Kabbalist after his conversion to Christianity. (Romans 3:8; 6:1) The Pharisees compiled the Oral Laws and codified (committed them to writing) about 200 AD. Modern day Rabbinic Judaism and synagogues owe their existence to the Pharisees’ work which is based on the Talmud and Kabbalah.

THE SADDUCEES

By the time of Jesus, the Sadducees were a political party and not the religious teachers of the people. They were an aristocratic class connected with and controlling everything going on in the temple in Jerusalem. They tended to be wealthy and held powerful positions, including that of chief priests and high priest, and they held the majority of the seats of the Sanhedrin. They were not primarily concerned with religion, but with the power they could acquire through the high priesthood and the political system. The Sadducees were the party allied with the Herodian and Roman rulers and they used their position in society to increase their wealth and affluence. They did not frown upon Jews working with the Roman occupation government. They administered the laws of Rome and made sure the people of Judah complied by collecting taxes on behalf of the Romans, they were in charge of the Jewish militia and worked with the Roman Army, etc. Because they were accommodating to Rome and were the wealthy upper class, they did not relate well to the common man, nor did the common man hold them in high opinion. The commoners related better to those who belonged to the party of the Pharisees. Though the Sadducees held the majority of seats in the Sanhedrin, history indicates that much of the time they had to go along with the ideas of the Pharisaic minority, because the Pharisees were more popular with the masses.

The Sadducees, strictly speaking, were not a religious sect as were the Pharisees, but comprised all the rationalists of the day. They believed in nothing supernatural. The Sadducees believed, according to the teachings of the Greek philosopher Epicurus, that the soul dies with the body. Therefore, they taught that there were no rewards or punishments after death. The Sadducees had a deistic view of God; they saw Him as uninterested in human affairs and therefore unwilling to intervene. They were extremely self-sufficient to the point of denying God’s involvement in everyday life. The Sadducees confronted Jesus on occasion, attempting to trip Him up. (Matthew 16:1; Mark 12:18) They discredited miracles and thus did not believe in the resurrection of the dead and rejected the existence of angels and spirits. (Matthew 22:23-34; Mark 12:18-27; Acts 23:8) Regarding their views on the resurrection, Jesus issued a strong denunciation, telling them that they were wrong because they did not know the Scriptures or the power of God. Matthew 22:29; Mark 12:24, 27) Due to this belief, the Sadducees strongly resisted the apostles’ preaching that Jesus had risen from the dead. (Acts 4:1-2)

The Sadducees accepted only the authority of the written Word of God, especially the five books of Moses (Genesis through Deuteronomy) and rejected the “Oral law/ Oral Torah” and “Kabbalah”. While they could be commended for this, they definitely were not perfect in their doctrinal views. Although the Sadducees ceased to exist as a group in 70 A.D., when Jerusalem and the temple were destroyed by the Romans, most likely they evolved over time into Karaite Judaism, which strongly rejects the Talmud and the Kabbalah. There are some 40,000 Karaite Jews living in Israel today with their own synagogues. There are 1,760 Karaite Jews in a number of nations and some 1,500 in the United States.

PHARISEES AND SADDUCEES REJECTED JESUS

Jesus had more run-ins with the Pharisees than with the Sadducees, probably because the Pharisees gave preeminence to oral tradition. Whereas the Sadducees were often more concerned with politics than religion, they ignored Jesus until they began to fear he might bring unwanted Roman attention and upset the status quo. It was at that point that the Sadducees and Pharisees set aside their differences, united, and conspired to put Jesus to death. (John 11:48-52; Mark 14:53; 15:1)

They were unsure how to proceed until the high priest Caiaphas spoke: “You know nothing at all, No consider that it is expedient for us, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.” (John 11:49-52)

This statement calling for Jesus’ death was a cold, calculating move of political expediency; at the same time, Caiaphas was unknowingly prophesying about God’s plan for Jesus’ death. Through the Sanhedrin’s wicked actions, God was able to save anyone (both Jew and Gentile) who would believe in Jesus Christ as the Messiah.

THE HERODIANS

The Herodians were a political party that thrived during the Roman occupation of Judah. It consisted of Jews who had mixed Judaism with Greek customs and religious beliefs. The party supported the Roman leader, Herod the Great who had ordered the deaths of every young boy in Bethlehem, and his son Herod Antipas, who continued as a vassal ruler under the Roman occupation government of Pontius Pilate. The Herodians were known for their desire to submit to Herod and his rule in exchange for political favor and peace. The Herodians did not like Jesus and had several run-ins with Him. (Matthew 22:15-22; Mark 3:1-6; 12:12-13; Luke 13:31-33)

THE ZEALOTS

One of the disciples of Jesus was named Simon the Zealot. (Matthew 10:4; Mark 3:18; Luke 6:15; Acts 1:13) The Zealots were a powerful political and military group among Jews who sought to overthrow the occupying Roman government. The word zealot derives from the Greek zelotes, meaning “emulator or (zealous) follower.” They wanted to restore Israel to its former glory and resorted to activism and military opposition to end Roman control. Many of the Zealots were also Kabbalists. They believed they were called to commit acts of violence against the Roman occupiers and to incite others to revolution. Because of their often-violent tactics, the Zealots had a reputation as forceful, aggressive agitators. Extremists among the Zealots turned to terrorism and assassination. In the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, the Zealots believed that he was the awaited Messiah and was there to set up a physical kingdom of Israel again. They tried to take Jesus by force and make him King and drive out the Romans with his supernatural power. (Matthew 11:12; John 6:14-15; Luke 6:11) However, Jesus did not respond to them but repeatedly said that His Kingdom was not of this world. (John 18:33-37) Even the apostles thought that Jesus would restore the kingdom to Israel. (Acts 1:6) More than forty men banded together to kill Paul. (Acts 23:10-35) These men were Zealots. The response from Claudius Lysias, the chief captain of the Roman garrison in Jerusalem was swift to protect Paul because he understood that the Zealots wielded a lot of power. Theologically, Zealots were identical to the Pharisees, except for their fanatical, anti-Roman militancy. This view not only brought them into conflict with the Roman-friendly Sadducees, but it accelerated Roman aggression against Jews, ultimately culminating in the destruction of the temple in 70 AD.

THE DESRUCTION OF JERUSALEM

In 70 A.D., a Roman military force of about 30,000 troops under the command of Titus marched into Jerusalem and began a systematic slaughter of the Jews and the destruction of the temple exactly as Jesus foretold 40 years earlier. (Matthew 24:1-2; Luke 21:5-6; Luke 19:41-44; 23:27-30) The Romans brutally slaughtered an estimated 600,000 people in Jerusalem including many of the Passover visitors who had been trapped there for the 143 days during the Roman siege. Many of the people who were not killed by Roman soldiers were shipped off to the gladiatorial games, Roman mines, and otherwise exiled from Judea and scattered throughout the Roman Empire and other nations. By the year 73 A.D., all traces of a self-ruling Jewish nation had completely disappeared. Josephus records that the Romans put the city and the temple to the torch and that these fires were still burning a month later. The magnificent temple that Herod had built was completely destroyed as the fires raged inside and out. These fires were so hot that the gold fittings and the gold gilding inside and on its outside walls melted and ran into the cracks between and in the stones. During the pillaging of the temple these stones were broken up to get at the gold. Therefore, fulfilling Jesus’ prophecy that no stone would be left on another—the destruction was total, just as Jesus foretold.

During the siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D., the repository of the archives and the official extra- biblical genealogies that were maintained in the Temple were burned and destroyed. As a result, no one has been able to prove their Hebrew genealogy or tribe through official records since that time and there has been no genealogical documentation available should someone appear claiming to have messianic authenticity. However, at the time of Jesus’ birth and during His life, ample genealogical evidence was available to verify genealogy using records maintained in the Temple. The genealogies of the Jews were important in tracing the line of the Messiah. The Old Testament made it clear that the Messiah would be the Son of David, so records of family history were vital. (Matthew 22: 42)

Matthew and Luke both include genealogies of Jesus in their Gospels to show Jesus’ connection to David. Matthew’s Gospel, written for Jews, traces Jesus’ genealogy to Abraham. Luke’s Gospel, written for Gentiles, traces Jesus’ genealogy all the way back to Adam. This genealogical information was crucial in determining whether Christ had the necessary “genealogical pedigree” to establish His ancestry. Both Matthew and Luke trace the genealogy of Christ through David—the former legally, through Joseph; the latter biologically, via Mary. This is clear evidence that the lineage of Jesus is a powerful argument for the identification of Jesus of Nazareth as the fulfillment of messianic prophecy.

The destruction of the city of Jerusalem and the Temple in 70 A.D. was the final great sign that God gave to demonstrate the abolishment of the 1st Covenant and the establishment of the 2nd Covenant. Because the Jewish religious and political leaders followed the oral traditions and rejected the spiritual truth of the Old Testament scriptures, they were not able to recognize and accept Jesus as the Messiah and Savior who was prophesied to come and abolish the 1st Covenant and establish a New/ Eternal/ 2nd Covenant. (2 Corinthians 3:1-18)

THE FIRST COVENANT

In the Old Testament, the people were under the 1st Covenant aka “the law” (meaning the first five books of the Old Testament written by Moses.) However, in the New Testament, when Jesus died on the cross, he fulfilled the portion of the 1st Covenant law known as the sacrificial law. This portion of the law is found in Exodus and Leviticus. (Exodus chapters 25-40; Leviticus 16) The high priest and the Levites were told to offer the different sacrifices year after year until the final and ultimate sacrifice could be made by the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ. The sacrificial law has been forever filled and it is because of this that salvation is now available to us. Furthermore, it isn’t necessary to observe the sacrificial law any longer because of Jesus Christ’s redemptive work on the cross the sacrificial law was a temporary law that existed until the Messiah had been sacrificed and the sin of man was paid in full. Jesus was the final/ ultimate sacrifice and is now the high priest forever. (Hebrews chapters 7, 8, 9, 10). It is a sin to observe the old sacrificial laws and teach people to observe them again.

However, the moral and practical laws given to Moses still stand today and as Christians we are to keep these laws that Jesus gave to Moses. (Matthew 5:17-19) Breaking these laws opens the doors for demons to enter the Christian.

Also, under the 1st Covenant, God’s presence dwelt in a building, “The Temple” (1 Kings 8:11; 2 Chronicles 5:14; Ezekiel 9:18-19) However, under the 2nd Covenant, the Temple of God consists of the bodies of the born-again believers in whom the Holy Spirit dwells. Under the 2nd Covenant, there is no building on earth in which the Spirit of God dwells. Instead, under the 2nd Covenant God is now dwelling in “the people of God” aka “The Church” as the “collective body of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:19; 2 Corinthians 6:16; Ephesians 2:19-22) The Jewish religious leaders and Christian Zionists are working toward the goal of rebuilding the temple in Jerusalem and instituting the sacrifices once again. This is blasphemy.

THE TWO COVENANTS

The Apostle Paul uses the allegory of Abraham’s two sons Ishmael and Isaac to illustrate the two Covenants and the two Jerusalems. (Galatians 4:21-31) Ishmael represents the seed of Abraham through Hagar (the slave woman/ not the line of Christ/ the 1st Covenant - bondage to the law / born of the flesh/ the earthly city of Jerusalem) and Isaac represents the seed of Abraham through Sarah (the free woman/ the line of Christ/ the 2nd Covenant - Grace through Christ/ born of the spirit/ the heavenly (holy) city of Jerusalem). In the passage, the Apostle Paul explains that in the Old Testament, the earthly city of Jerusalem had spiritual significance to the people of God. However, the earthly city of Jerusalem that exists today has been in spiritual bondage along with her children (the Jews/ Judaism) since they rejected Jesus as their Messiah and had Him crucified.

The rebuilt Jerusalem that is now the capital of Israel is called “Sodom and Gomorrah” in the Book of Revelation. When the antichrist will come into power, he will rule out of Jerusalem. It is not until in the 1000-year kingdom, that Jerusalem once again will become the city of God on this earth. (Revelation 11:1-8)

The city of Jerusalem will cease to exist after the Great White Judgment, as the entire universe including the earth will be dissolved and cease to exist. All believers in Christ will be transferred to a new universe and a new earth, on which the New Jerusalem shall be the capital for that entire universe. (2 Peter 3:10-13; Revelation 21:1-2)

As a result, Jews remain in a state of spiritual bondage and enslavement to the law and have not been set free because they have rejected Jesus as their Savior and emancipator. However, the heavenly (holy) city of Jerusalem is in spiritual freedom with her children who are the heirs to salvation by grace through the promise of Jesus their Savior and emancipator. Therefore, the current earthly city of Jerusalem is not the holy city and has no significance to those who believe in Jesus as their Messiah and Savior and no bearing on the spiritual lives of God’s people/ Christians. The destiny of God’s people/ Christians under the 2nd Covenant is the heavenly (holy) city of New Jerusalem the city of God and not the earthly city of Jerusalem/ Israel. (Hebrews 12:18-29; Revelation 3:12; 21:2, 10)

The Apostle Paul explains who “the Israel of God” is in the New Testament under the 2nd Covenant.

“And as many as walk according to this rule (the Holy Scriptures), peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.” (Galatians 6:16)

This term “the Israel of God” was first applied to Jacob. (Genesis 32:28) Esau was a grandson of Abraham, as was Jacob, but Esau never became an Israelite because he rejected God’s plan for him. Not all the children of Abraham became Israelites. The true Israel of God, is made up of all true believers, Jews and Gentiles alike. (Romans 2:28-29; 3:1-31; 4:16; 9:6-8; Galatians 3:1-29) The Israel of God (is Spiritual) and consists of both Jews and Gentiles who believe and accept the 2nd Covenant which is Salvation through Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Savior.

The Israel of God has no earthly physical or geographic location and is in spiritual freedom but is awaiting the New Heavenly Holy Jerusalem which is yet to come. The Israel of God is God’s chosen people and Abraham is their spiritual father and they are Abraham’s spiritual children (Galatians 3:7). The Israel of God are now God’s royal priesthood and holy nation. (Matthew 21:42-44; 1 Peter 2:6-9) The Israel after the flesh (is Physical) and consists of both Jews and Gentiles (converts to Judaism) who accept only the 1st Covenant and reject Salvation through Jesus Christ as the Messiah and Savior. (1 Corinthians 10:18) The Israel after the Flesh accepts only the earthly city of Jerusalem and the earthly Nation of Israel and is in spiritual bondage. The Israel after the flesh are not God’s chosen people and Abraham is not their spiritual father and they are not Abraham’s spiritual children. (John 8:30-47)

MODERN RABBINICAL JUDASIM

The destruction of the temple by Rome in 70 A.D. began an era of consolidation of power within the sects of Judaism. Ever since that event, Jews were scattered throughout the known world and were no longer centered in Jerusalem. In addition, the leaders of the Kabbalistic doctrine spread out all over the world and planted themselves wherever Jewish people lived. Through the writings of the Oral Law and doctrine of the Kabbalah, they began working to bring their dream of a Messiah/ Mashiach into a reality. Since 70 A.D., there has been no temple, no priests, and no sacrifices on behalf of the nation of Israel. The local synagogue became the new center of Jewish life and authority shifted from the centralized priesthood to local scholars and teachers giving rise to Rabbinic Judaism. Rabbinic Judaism grew out of the Pharisees, and it retained their heavy emphasis on scholars and rabbis. It taught that there was a written Torah as well as an “Oral Law/Oral Torah” which required a tradition-based teaching authority in order to be properly interpreted. The Rabbinic sect produced enormous quantities of literature defining the halakha, or interpretations of the Law. As Rabbinic Judaism grew, Christianity became viewed less as a sect and more as a heresy by mainline Judaism. Christianity and Judaism were already growing apart in their spiritual approach prior to the Bar Kokhba revolt. But when Christ-following Jews refused to proclaim Simon bar Kokhba as Messiah, they were branded as complete heretics by mainline Rabbinic Judaism. From that point on, Christianity and Judaism were seen as completely separate theologies. Another small sect arising during this time was Karaite Judaism, which accepted only the canonical written books of the Old Testament and rejected the rabbinic writings and oral traditions. The Rabbinic period lasted until around the end of the 17th century.

In the early part of the 18th century, Rabbinic Judaism began to fracture as modern approaches to Scripture and society emerged. The resulting sects of Judaism essentially divide modern Jews into three groups: Orthodox (very traditional), Reform (also known as Liberal or Progressive), and Conservative which takes a middle path between the other two. There are also secular or non-religious Jews (also called humanistic or non-theistic Jews) who maintain a Jewish ethnic identity through the observance of many Jewish traditions. Originally, those traditions had a religious purpose, but secular Jews attach absolutely no religious significance to them today. Secular Jews make up a significant portion of the Jewish population in the United States. There are also numerous smaller, less influential sects of Judaism, such as Torah Judaism and Reconstructionist Judaism. Most synagogues are designated by the branch title, similar to a denominational name on a church. The overwhelming majority of Jews in the world are Orthodox, though Conservative and Reform are more common in the United States and certain parts of Europe.

What is today called Orthodox Judaism for most of history was simply called Rabbinic Judaism. The term Orthodox, which literally means “right opinion,” began to be used in the late 18th and early 19th centuries to distinguish it from other approaches to Judaism that had begun to develop. Orthodox was first used as a pejorative term by more progressive Jews but came to be embraced by the traditional adherents of Judaism. Orthodox Judaism emphasizes living according to the Law of Moses (the Torah), as it has been interpreted by the authoritative rabbinic tradition (the Oral Tradition of the Elders, today known as the Talmud). According to Orthodox Judaism, in addition to the written Law, Moses also received the correct interpretation of the Law, which has been handed down by oral tradition through the rabbis until it was finally written down in the Mishnah, dating from the 2nd century AD. Since that time, the Mishnah has been further developed and interpreted. The Mishnah and its additional histories, commentaries, and applications are known as the Talmud, of which there are two versions: the Jerusalem Talmud and the Babylonian Talmud. Orthodox Judaism considers the Babylonian Talmud to be more authoritative. The study of the Talmud is essential to Orthodox Judaism, even more important than the study of the written Torah. Most of the synagogues and yeshivas teach from the Talmud and Kabbalah.

They rarely reference the Old Testament (Law, Prophets, & Writings). Rabbinic commentary on the Talmud has accrued over the years and has come to be known as the halakha. The halakha provides authoritative instruction for Orthodox Jews on religious and civil practices and is binding upon the individual and the community. Some of the distinctive practices of Orthodox Judaism include gender-segregated prayer, a refusal to travel on the Sabbath, and maintaining strict kosher observance. Orthodox Jews believe that the Messiah will come but in his own divine power and set up the kingdom of Israel. There are two variations within Orthodox Judaism.

Modern Orthodoxy maintains all the distinctives of Orthodoxy but freely interacts with the society at large and considers a secular education to be important. Ultra-Orthodoxy (a term that some find offensive) or Haredi Judaism tends to insulate itself from secular society, focus on religious education, wear distinctive clothing (normally black suits and white shirts for men and carefully modest dress for women), and primarily speak Yiddish. Adherents to this form of Judaism in the United States will often live in enclaves in larger cities. A subset of Haredi Judaism is Hasidism or Hasidic Judaism. Hasidic Judaism is a religious group. It arose as a spiritual revival movement in the territory of contemporary Western Ukraine during the 18th century. It spread rapidly throughout Eastern Europe. Today, most affiliates reside in Israel and the United States. Hasidic Judaism is divided into various sects. Each sect within Hasidic Judaism is led by a rebbe (Rabbi) who is believed to have direct access to God.

CHABAD -LUBAVITCH MOVEMENT

Chabad Lubavitch is a movement within Hasidic Judaism that follows the doctrines of the Talmud and Kabbalah (Jewish Mysticism). Chabad Lubavitc is the most deeply Kabbalistic of all Jewish sects. It is the Kabbalistic group in Judaism which is actively working to bring a Messiah to earth. Today, Chabad Lubavitch, has placed increasing emphasis on the imminence of the Messiah’s arrival.

Jared Kushner and his wife lvanka, the daughter of President Donald Trump, are members of Chabad Lubavitch and awaiting the resurrection Menachem Mendel Schneersohn the 7th rebbe (Rabbi) of the Chabad Lubavitch movement. At gatherings of their youth organizations, children chant, “We want Ma-shi¬akh (Messiah) now.” Kabbalistic Jews believe that there will be a Messiah, but that he can only come if the Kabbalistic Jews prepare a way for him.

In 2005 the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs reported that up to one million Jews attend Chabad services at least once a year.

THE NOAHIDE LAWS

Beginning in 1978 with U.S. President Jimmy Carter a delegation of Chabad Lubavitch leading Rabbis have met each year with every U.S. President in the oval office for the signing of a proclamation commemorating the anniversary of the birth of their leader Rebbe/ Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson and marking the day as “Education Day, U.S.A”[14 15]

In March 1991, as part of “Education Day, U.S.A”, both houses of Congress passed a bill H.J. Res 104, which was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush and became Public Law No. 102-14.[16] The language of the law asserts that the “Seven Noahide Laws” (Talmudic Laws) are the ethical values of civilized society and are the basis on which the American nation was founded and that without these Seven Noahide Laws society stands in peril. It also states that it is our nation’s responsibility to transmit these ethical values to the generations of the future and that in the future the President of the United States will sign an “international scroll” pledging to return the world to the Seven Noahide Laws through education and charity. The law also celebrates the birthday of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, the leader of the Chabad Lubavitch movement who along with this organization has been dedicated to spreading and fostering the Seven Noahide Laws in society. In 1994, he was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal for his “outstanding and lasting contributions toward improvements in world education, morality, and acts of charity.” Today, Schneerson’s burial place attracts Jews and non-Jews for prayer and those awaiting his resurrection.

REFORM JUDAISM

Reform Judaism emerged in Germany during the early 1800s and is by far the most theologically liberal sect. Reform Judaism is primarily an “ethical monotheism,” based on interpretation of traditional practices rather than strict adherence to them. Concepts such as prayers in Hebrew, kosher dietary laws, and the separation of genders during worship are rejected as irrelevant, or even backwards. The Scriptures, according to Reform Judaism, are human developments, subject to our interpretations and fallibilities. The development of Reform Judaism is somewhat parallel to the development of liberal Christianity. With the scientific and philosophical shifts in culture and higher learning spawned by the Enlightenment, the supernatural element in religion and the concept of divine authority was gradually replaced with the supremacy of human reason. Many Jews began to reject the halakha and the Bible, although they still valued many of the ethics and principles found therein. Most of the ceremonies and rituals that had been central to Judaism were rejected as mere superstition.

Today, Reform Judaism most values doing good for family and for mankind. Reform Judaism does not really believe that there will be a Messiah. Instead, the idea of a personal Messiah has been replaced by the idea of a messianic age of goodwill that will be inaugurated by human effort. The doctrine of the resurrection of the dead has been replaced by the concept of living on in the memories of descendants and society because of the good works that one has accomplished.

As for the Bible, Reform Jews find much wisdom in (and tend to focus on) the Prophets because of those books’ calls for social justice. Ethical concerns and proper relationships with fellow human beings are viewed as more important than ceremonies designed to lead one into a right standing before God (the emphasis of the Torah). For instance, Passover is celebrated by Reform Jews with an emphasis on freedom. On Yom Kippur (the Day of Atonement), Reform Jews acknowledge the need to be forgiven by God, but emphasize forgiving and seeking forgiveness from other human beings.

After the events of the twentieth century, Reform Judaism also embraced Zionism, which it initially rejected. In more recent years, Reform Judaism has evolved to become more of an individual expression of religion rather than a unified “movement.” Adherents pick and choose those aspects of Judaism that they find meaningful or helpful while rejecting the rest. Many Reform Jews live their daily lives in the same way that their non-Jewish friends do, without concern for kosher requirements. In the end, the ultimate authority in Reform Judaism is the individual. As might be expected, Reform Judaism is strongest in North America, and approximately one third of Jews in the United States identify as Reform.

CONSERVATIVE JUDAISM

Conservative Judaism is also known as Masorti (“Traditional”) Judaism outside of North America. Conservative Judaism developed in Germany, but most of its adherents today are American. Conservative Judaism takes a middle-of-the-road position between Orthodox and Reform Judaism. 

“Conservative” does not indicate a political mindset; rather, it emphasizes the desire to conserve Jewish traditions and values instead of reforming them. (In fact, Conservative Judaism has socio-political conservatives and liberals and has been marked by internal divisions over how to handle issues such as LGBT acceptance.) In theory, Conservative Jews would find it important to maintain kosher dietary guidelines as well as religious festivals and traditional religious practices, but these observances have been on the decline among Conservative Jews in the United States. For Orthodox Jews, the authority of the halakha is paramount. For Reform Jews, the authority of the autonomous individual is paramount. For Conservative Jews, it is the experience, values, and “collective will” of the Jewish people that are most binding.

For example, observance of the Sabbath is important in Conservative Judaism, not because it was commanded by God but because it has been an expression of Jewish identity for thousands of years.

For Conservative Jews, the halakha, while binding, is subject to development over time. It can be changed, but only with great caution. Much of this change and development comes from the experience and changing needs of the Jewish people. Ethical considerations are important but are defined by modern sensibilities. Rabbis consider the desires of their congregations when making decisions, rather than strictly “going by the book.”

The Conservative branch has issued official rulings allowing innovations (such as driving to the synagogue on the Sabbath) that the Orthodox do not allow and the Reform would need no official ruling on. “Core values” of the Jewish people are more important than theological doctrines in Conservative Judaism. Support for the nation of Israel (Zionism) is one of these core values.

Conservative Judaism does not really believe that there will be a Messiah. Conservatives try to balance tradition on one hand with change and innovation on the other. This is a somewhat ambiguous standard, so theological beliefs and practices will vary widely among Conservatives. In fact, theological agreement is not required, as pluralism is highly valued and dogmatism is avoided. Conservatives generally hold to a rather generic doctrine of God as the Creator and Guide to the world, but not much beyond that.

Conservative Judaism, which was once the largest branch of Judaism in the United States, is on the decline in the U.S. but on the rise in Europe. Some critics claim that it is rapidly becoming obsolete. Although it pays lip service to authority, it accommodates the changing winds of culture.

The majority of Jews today don’t follow the Kabbalah and know very little about its teachings. The Jewish people in general, are still looking for a future messiah since they have rejected Jesus 2,000 years ago. They believe this messiah will secure the “political state of Israel” and remove all wars and conflicts from the earth. They also believe that each Jew has to repent and atone for their own sins.

It is the powerful Jews in leadership positions who are Kabbalists and are spearheading the effort to make humanity evil. Today, Kabbalistic Jews dominate the world’s financial institutions and banking industry, Hollywood and the entertainment industry, and the mainstream media. These Kabbalistic Jews are devoutly practicing their religion and believe that the more they sin and lead others into sin, the sooner the holy serpent will rise from the abyss and set up the Kingdom of Israel. It is important to understand that the “political state of Israel” is not the same as the biblical “Kingdom of Israel.”

BIBLICAL DEFINITIONS OF THE ANTICHRIST

The Bible tells us the following about The Antichrist/ The False Messiah:

  1. He will be Jewish. (Daniel 11:37-38)
  2. He will be a homosexual. (Daniel 11:37)
  3. He will receive his power and authority from the Satan. (Revelation 13:1-4) He will have the ability to perform signs and wonders. (2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)
  4. His number will be 666, the Kabbalistic number that King Solomon took as the head of the Kabbalistic movement. (Revelation 13:18; 1 Kings 10:14; 10:18-20)
  5. He will worship the god of forces, the Kabbalistic god, also known as Lucifer/Satan. (Daniel 11:36-39)
  6. He will reign out of and establish Jerusalem as the capital of the World Federation. (Revelation 11:2, 8; 17:17-18; 2 Thessalonians 2:3-4)
  7. He will enter the rebuilt temple in Jerusalem although he is not a priest and will stop the temple sacrifices, and declare himself to be God. Satan worship will then commence. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-7) Temple sacrifices will have been previously restarted under the Talmudic/ Kabbalistic system of Judaism. (Daniel 8:11-13; 9:27; 11:31; 12:11; Matthew 24:15; Mark 13:14)
  8. He will arrive before the second return of Jesus. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-12)
  9. He will establish a totalitarian state like never seen before and will use war to enforce his rule. He will mandate Satan worship as the state religion. There will be total control over all business so that no human can buy or sell without having taken the mark of the Beast/Antichrist in their forehead or right hand. (Revelation 13:1-18)

What will be like in the end times?

  1. Jesus stated that the conditions of the end times under the Antichrist will be the same as it was before Noah’s flood. (Matthew 24:37-44; Luke 17:26-37)
  2. There was great wickedness. (Genesis 6:5; Hebrews 11:7; 1 Peter 3:20; 2 Peter 2:5; 2 Timothy 3:1-9)
  3. Fallen angels produced a hybrid race with human women for which there was no redemption. (Genesis 6:1-4; 1 Peter 3: 19-20; 2 Peter 2:4; Jude 6)
  4. Fallen angels corrupted the human race through gene splicing and cloning and did the same to the animals and vegetation. (Genesis 6:1-13)

The Bible tells us the following about the Catching Away (Rapture)/ Second Coming of Jesus Christ/ The Resurrection of Believers:

  1. In the parable of the wheat and the tares, Jesus stated that the wheat and tares would grow together until the harvest at the end of the world when the tares would be gathered first and cast into the furnace of fire where there is gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13:24-30, 36-43)
  2. In the parable of the dragnet, Jesus stated that the good and bad would be gathered together at the end of the world. The bad would be separated from among the good and cast into the furnace of fire where there is gnashing of teeth. (Matthew 13: 47-50)
  3. Jesus never stated that He would remove His followers prior to the coming of the Antichrist. On the contrary, the tribulation
  4. period would be shortened for the elect’s sake. (Matthew 24:21-22) 4. Paul stated that Jesus will not return until the Antichrist has set up his reign on the earth. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-13)
  5. Jesus made it clear that the Antichrist will make war with the Christians on earth. (Revelation 13:1-10)
  6. Jesus taught that His second return would be known on a worldwide scale. (Matthew 24:29-31; Revelation 1:7)
  7. There will be a great sound of a trumpet. (Matthew 24:31; 1 Corinthians 15:52; 1 Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 11:15)
  8. There will be a resurrection at the end time and a removal from the earth of God’s people at some time in history. But this is a mystery because some Christians will be alive on the earth when this takes place and will be caught up from the earth and be taken to be with the Lord. Paul did not state that this will take place prior to the coming of the Antichrist. (Matthew 24:29-31; John 5:28-29; 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
  9. The good and evil people will be resurrected at the same time. (John 5:28-29)
  10. The dead believers in Christ will be resurrected before the believers in Christ who are alive. (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)
  11. The description of Jesus’ second return tells us that the Son of God will first deal with is the Antichrist and the false prophet. before the First Resurrection (Revelation 19:11-21; 20:4-6)
  12. Additional things Jesus said about the end times. (Luke 21:34-36)

WHEN WILL THESE EVENTS TAKE PLACE?

How will all this be accomplished and unfold? How far are we from the reign of the Antichrist/ The False Messiah?

The logical conclusion is that the political State of Israel would need to be re-established and the Jews would need to be brought back to the land of Israel. (Revelation 11:8; 17:17-18) This would create a platform for False Messiah/ “the Antichrist” (1 John 2:18; 4:3) which the Bible calls:

  • The Beast (Daniel 7:11; Revelation 13:1-4, 12, 14, 15, 17-18; 15:2; 16:2, 10, 13; 17:7-8, 11-13, 16-17; 20:4, 10)
  • Son of perdition, Man of Sin (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
  • Wicked One (Matthew 13:19, 38; 2 Thessalonians 2:8; 1 John 2:13-14)
  • Little Horn (Daniel 7:8, 11, 20-21, 24-26)
  • Abomination of Desolation (Matthew 24:15; Mark 13:14)
  • Vile Person (Daniel 11:21)

The New Testament teaches that Kabalistic Judaism is going to be the vehicle Satan will use to build his worldwide system, which the Bible calls Babylon the Great. (Revelation chapters 11, 17, 18) The Kingdom of the Antichrist will be a political alliance of many nations that will give their power to the Antichrist. (Revelation 17:1-18) Its financial strength will come from global trading. (Revelation 18:23) This will be the political system, ruled by the Antichrist, which will be merged with a religious and financial/monetary system which the Bible calls the Great Whore. All religions will be merged into a super religion in the world under one leader, the False Prophet.

The religions will be purged of their founders, including their written documents, like the Bible, the Koran, etc. They will be replaced by the Noahide Laws. (Revelation 13; 14; 17 and 19:19-21)

SATANIC SUPERNATIONAL POWER

When Satan decides to set up the Beast/Antichrist system, the Beast/Antichrist will rise to world power through supernatural abilities provided by Satan. (Revelation 13:1-2)

  1. There will be a catastrophic event of such a magnitude that the nations of the world will be forced to give up their sovereignty and yield to a world government system. A brilliant Jewish political leader will exhibit supernatural power and promise to solve the crisis. (It is interesting that the Peace Deal presented by President Donald Trump on January 29, 2020 was designed by Jared Kushner. Jared Kushner is Donald Trump’s Jewish son-in-law and a member of the Kabbalistic Chabad synagogue system).
  2. This newly non-elected charismatic world leader (Beast) will successfully direct all efforts to solve the crisis. As a result, the world’s population will revere him as a savior and he will institute a new global electronic currency and abolish cash.
  3. Banking will utilize credit and debit cards; unemployment will go down and people will be prosperous.
  4. The Beast will set up his office in a new palace built for him and his government in Jerusalem and oversee the rebuilding of the temple. (Revelation 17:17-18)
  5. The inauguration of the temple will be shown on live television, but once the dedication begins, the Beast will enter the holy of holies, sit down in the mercy seat and declare he is god. The shock of this announcement will reverberate throughout the world. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-4; Daniel 8:11-13; 9:27; 11:31; 12:11; Matthew 24:15; Mark 13:14)
  6. A devout non-Kabbalistic Jew will assassinate the Beast for his blasphemy, but he will be resurrected three days later by the power of Satan. (Revelation 13:3) This is when he will demand worship from the earth’s population. (Revelation 13:4-10) The Beast/Antichrist will be introduced as the long-awaited Jewish Messiah. Jesus of Nazareth, Mohammad, Buddha, etc. will be declared as false prophets and teachers. People will be told that Kabbalistic Judaism is the highest religion on this earth and the highest worship on earth can only be done by Jews at the temple in Jerusalem where the Beast/Antichrist will have his seat. Gentiles will be declared as beast with no souls and they must observe the Noahide Laws. The entire Gentile population will become a slave class for the Jews. Satan will not allow any religion on the earth but his own. All people will be forced to abandon whatever religion they practice and start to worship Satan and his man the Beast/Antichrist. (Revelation 13:4) The worship of Satan will be the official religion in the kingdom of the Beast/Antichrist. This will be a highlight for Jewish Kabbalists, when they can openly worship the holy serpent (Satan). There will be Satan worship not seen on the earth since the days of Noah before the flood. (Genesis chapters 6-7; Job 22:15-18; Matthew 24:37; Luke 17:26; Galatians 3:19; 1 Peter 3:19-22; 2 Peter 2:4-5; Jude 6) The teaching at that time will be that Lucifer is god the father and the Antichrist is his son. It will be a twisted version of John 3:16. (Revelation 13:4) (John 14:9-11)
  7. God will send strong delusion upon the people of the world so that they believe the lies spoken by the Man of Sin. This is part of God’s judgment since they won’t hear truth. The Lord will turn them over to lies so that they can be judged and perish. (2 Thessalonians 2:10-13) The apostle John wrote that anyone who rejects Jesus as the Messiah is possessed by the spirit of Antichrist. It does not bode well for anyone who denies that Jesus is the Son of God and was incarnation into a human body. (1 John 4:1-6)
  8. At this time, two prophets will show up outside the palace of the Beast/Antichrist and torment him for 3.5 years. These two men will be fearless and invincible for 1,260 days. This will greatly anger Satan and the Beast/Antichrist, but they will be powerless as God openly mocks the Antichrist system and hurts their credibility. These two witnesses will be killed by the Beast/Antichrist when God removes their protection but they will be resurrected 3.5 days later and taken to heaven. (Revelation 11:3-12)
  9. The credibility of the Beast/Antichrist is tarnished since he was unable to kill the two prophets during the previous 1,260 days. Satan will introduce another Beast called the False Prophet who will take over the governing of the earth. This second Beast/False Prophet will institute the Mark of the Beast. (Revelation 13:16-18; 14:9-12) No man will be able to buy or sell unless they are part of this microchip-based financial system. Any person who wishes to receive this microchip must take an oath of loyalty to the Beast and the Devil. You won’t be able to carry out any financial transaction without this status symbol and you will be forced out of society. The majority of the world’s population will take the Mark of the Beast. The Mark of the Beast will consist of a new monetary system (a single/one financial system for the entire world) that will be merged with (a single/ one world religion of Satan worship). The new monetary system will not be political but a religious system of worship for those who want to be part of it. Part of the worship will be to take the “Mark of the Beast.” (Revelation 13:16-18; 14:9-12; Exodus 13:9-10) Jesus identifies this religious system as the Kabbalistic 666 system set up by King Solomon. (1 Kings 10:14, 18-20; Revelation 13:11-18) This will be a cashless system. This will give rise to Mystery Babylon (The Great Whore), a political and religious system that is tied to banking and trade on a global scale. All the nations of the world will do business with her and will prosper. Mystery Babylon (The Great Whore) is the Kabbalistic system that will replace all religions on earth. The God of the Kabbalah is Lucifer/Satan and he is going to demand worship of him alone. Christians will be harshly persecuted and killed. (Revelation 13:4-9; 14:12-13) This period will continue for 41.6 years. (Revelation 17:10-13; 2 Peter 3:8) All the different religions will be merged into a single (one) world religion led by the False Prophet. (Revelation 13:11-12) The False Prophet will have supernatural power to perform miracles and he will deceive people into worshiping the Antichrist. (Revelation 13:12-15)
  10. Everyone on earth will worship the Antichrist except for those whose names are written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. (Revelation 13:8) Anyone who joins the religious/monetary system and receives the Mark of the Beast will be damned to the Lake of Fire It is better to be tormented and killed than to take the Mark of the Beast. (Revelation 14:9-13)

WORLD ZIONIST ORGANIZATION

In 1897, the World Zionist Organization was formed under the leadership of a Hungarian Austrian Jew named Theodore Herzl. At that time, the Talmudic/ Kabbalistic Jews did not rally around a new Messiah but were determined on reclaiming the land of Israel for the future Jewish Messiah. The political state of Israel was created by ungodly men, steeped in the Kabbalah, trying to usher in their own messiah. They have rejected Jesus Christ but they will receive Satan’s messiah. (John 5:43; Mark 15:1-14; 1 John 4:1-3) Modern day Jewish and Christian Zionists are the spiritual descendants of the Pharisees. The same spirit that drove the Zealots (deception, lies, & war) has been driving the modern Zionists and Chabadists. Today, the Kabbalistic leadership is attempting to create a global political state of Israel using Zionism. The Chabad Lubavitch movement is attempting to create a global religious state of Israel under the Talmud a Kabbalah. The two world wars during the last 100 years made it possible for the Kabbalistic leadership to establish the political state of Israel. In 1948, the state of Israel was established and since that time Jews have been looking for their Messiah that they believe will rule the world as an earthly king and subdue all Gentiles under his feet. The United States has since become Israel’s military arm since they are not strong enough to wage war by themselves.

THE POLITICAL STATE OF ISRAEL

Today, Israel has regained its sovereignty and has a fully functioning government including: a Parliament (legislature) “The Knesset”, a President, a Prime Minister, a Military “The Israel Defense Force”, an Intelligence Agency “The Mossad”. The modern state of Israel’s flag has the symbol of the hexagram which is known today as the “Magen David” or “Star of David” and is supposed to be an ancient symbol of Israel. (Acts 7:43; Amos 5:26) However, such an occult symbol is nowhere mentioned in the Bible as the “Star of David”. Instead, it was “bequeathed” to rabbinic leaders in the 14th century by the Hermeticist, King Charles IV of Bohemia and formally adopted as “the Star of David” in 1898 at the Second Zionist Congress in Switzerland. Inside occult circles, the “Star of David” is known as the “Seal of Solomon”. The seal of Solomon is a hexagram and depicts the Kabbalistic number “666”. It is a 6-sided polygon, has 6 equilateral triangles, and has 6 points.[17] There was a strong opposition when a state flag was going to be chosen for the new state of Israel, and many orthodox Jews wanted the menorah, which is a seven-armed candle stick to be on the flag, but the occult forces won out and put on the “Seal of Solomon.”[18]

Modern day Israel’s economic and technological center is Tel Aviv, while its seat of government and proclaimed capital is Jerusalem, although the state’s sovereignty over Jerusalem has only partial recognition. Israel desires to rebuild the Temple in Jerusalem and re-institute animal sacrifices and temple worship.

Tel Aviv is one of the most liberal cities in the world. It is the most gay-friendly city in the entire world. It is the undisputed homosexual capital of the Middle East. It offers 24/7 non-stop activities, with all year-round gay beaches, gay bars and night clubs. Every June Tel Aviv celebrates the Gay Pride week. A week of celebrations and happenings throughout the city with Pride Expo (Gay Culture Fair), LGBT Theater festival, LGBT Film Festival and the famous Pride Parade which is one of the most flagrant gay parades in the world.

Today, Israel’s abortion laws are among the world’s most liberal. Israel provides government funding for non-medical abortions for Israeli women aged 20 to 33.

JEWISH CRIME FAMILIES

The establishment of the State of Israel is a major factor in the rise and power of the Jewish Mafia. The Jewish mafia began with the mass migration of Russian Jews to Israel in 1989. These Jews began calling themselves the Israeli or Jewish Mafia. Immigration of Jews to Israel from other countries such as Georgia, Ukraine, Morocco, Egypt, and Iran have led to the creation of additional crime families. There are 16 crime families operating in Israel, 5 major groups active on the national level, and 11 smaller organizations. Many of these crime syndicates have been able to expand their operations to western European cities such as Antwerp, Brussels, Paris, New York, Manhattan, Los Angeles, and Miami. The Jewish mafia is nothing like their Irish or Italian predecessors in its American or European operations. They are richer, more international in scope and far more violent and ruthless. They kill children. They kill policemen and their families. They kill whomever they like. There has been nothing like it before in the history of the globe. Today, Israel is the organized crime and mafia capital of the world. As such, it is also the sex and human trafficking and organ harvesting capital of the world. Other illegal activities they are engaged in include: drugs and weapons trafficking, money laundering, casino and gambling operations, prostitution, pornography, murder for hire, racketeering, extortion, counterfeiting, and fraud.

SURVEILLANCE INDUSTRY

Today, advanced technology is one of the main sectors in Israel’s industry. Israel is the government surveillance industry capital of the world. Israel is the leader in the research, development, and marketing of mass surveillance, cyber security, cyber weapons, to governments around the world.

THE SEVEN NOAHIDE LAWS

Beginning in 1978 with U.S. President Jimmy Carter a delegation of Chabad Lubavitch leading Rabbis have met each year with every U.S. President in the oval office for the signing of a proclamation commemorating the anniversary of the birth of their leader Rebbe/ Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson and marking the day as “Education Day, U.S.A”.[19 20]

In March 1991, as part of “Education Day, U.S.A”, both houses of Congress passed a bill H.J. Res 104, which was signed into law by President George H.W. Bush and became Public Law No. 102-14.[21] The language of the law asserts that the “Seven Noahide Laws” (Talmudic Laws) are the ethical values of civilized society and are the basis on which the American nation was founded and that without these Seven Noahide Laws society stands in peril. It also states that it is our nation’s responsibility to transmit these ethical values to the generations of the future and that in the future the President of the United States will sign an “international scroll” pledging to return the world to the Seven Noahide Laws through education and charity. The law also celebrates the birthday of Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson, the leader of the Chabad Lubavitch movement who along with this organization has been dedicated to spreading and fostering the Seven Noahide Laws in society.

The Seven Noahide Laws are as follows:

  1. Do Not deny God (no idolatry).
  2. Do Not Murder.
  3. Do not Steal.
  4. Do Not engage in sexual immorality.
  5. Do Not blaspheme.
  6. Do Not eat of a live animal (no eating flesh taken from an animal while it is still alive).
  7. Establish courts and legal systems to ensure obedience of these laws.

The Seven Noahide Laws are not found anywhere in the Bible but are part of the Talmud. According to the Talmud, the The Noahide Laws are seven ancient laws that form the basis of civilized society. They govern morality and represent the “bare minimum” of what God expects of humanity. They are called the “Noahide” laws because the Talmud states that they were given to Noah after the flood. The idea of a formal set of laws given to all humanity (all the sons of Noah) comes from the Talmud and is therefore extra-biblical.

According to the Talmud, the first six of these seven laws were given to Adam in the Garden of Eden (the sixth law, to not eat live animals, was extraneous, since Adam did not eat any animals). When God established His covenant with Noah, He added the seventh (and the sixth became applicable). Each of the seven Noahide Laws is seen as a summary of more detailed laws, about 211 total.

According to Judaism, a Gentile does not have to follow the Mosaic Law; however, all Gentiles are obliged to follow the Noahide Laws. The laws given to Noah’s children are universally binding. A non-Jew who abides by the Noahide Laws is considered a “righteous Gentile,” according to Judaism, and will earn a reward in the afterlife, if his obedience is coupled with a knowledge that the laws come from God. A “righteous Gentile” might also be called a “Hasidic Gentile” or simply a “Noahide.” The Talmud (Sanh. 57a.) states the penalty for disobedience: “One additional element of greater severity is that the violation of any one of the seven laws subjects the Noahide to capital punishment by decapitation.” (Revelation 13:10; 20:4)

Nowhere does the Bible record what laws God may have given Adam, other than the command to fill and subdue the earth and the prohibition against eating of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. (Genesis 1:28; 2:17) After Noah and his family exited the ark, God gave the following three commands to him: “Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth.” (Genesis 9:1) “You must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it” (verse 4); and “Whoever sheds human blood, / by humans shall their blood be shed; / for in the image of God / has God made mankind.” (verse 6) After that, God repeats His command to “be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it.” (verse 7) Other than Noah being told not to eat raw meat, there is no hint of the traditional Noahide Laws in these passages.

The Book of Acts is the only other place in Scripture where a Noahide law might be mentioned. (Acts 15:29) The context of this passage is the Jerusalem Council, which met to address the issue of the Gentiles’ place in the early church. Specifically, the question before the council was, “Must Gentiles be circumcised according to Mosaic Law in order to be saved?” (Acts 15:1) The apostles in Jerusalem answered with a resounding “no!” We are not saved by keeping the Law. (Galatians 2:16) However, to promote peace within the early church, the council advised Gentile believers to avoid four things, including the eating of “blood.” (Acts 15:29) None of the other three instructions correspond to any of the Noahide Laws. In any case, it is important to note that we are not saved by rule-keeping; God requires faith in His Son. (John 3:18)

The Noahide Laws are a substitute for the Ten Commandments that were written in stone by God and given to Moses. (Exodus chapter 20:1-26)

“Now therefore harken, O Israel unto the statutes and unto the judgements, which I give unto you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you. Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall you diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you”. (Deuteronomy 4:1-2)

In Deuteronomy 5, the Ten Commandments are stated again and God calls it his covenant.

According to one of the most prolific and influential Talmudic Scholars of the Middle Ages, Rabbi Moses Maimonides, any gentile religion is illicit; the only alternatives for gentiles are conversion to Judaism or observance of the rabbinic Noahide Laws which by definition exclude any gentile religion. Rabbi Moses Maimonides classified Jesus Christ as an idol and the Christian religion as a form of idolatry. He ruled that Christians are subject to all the punishment placed on idolaters by rabbinic law. Under the Talmud’s Noahide laws, the worship of Jesus is forbidden under penalty of death, since such worship of Christ is condemned by Judaism as idolatry. Maimonides ruled that it is a rabbinic court or court appointed by rabbinic authority that enforces obedience and passes judgment on gentiles, as well as promulgating legislation by court order for that purpose. These courts are to be convened under the Noahide Laws.

Thus, U.S. Public Law No. 102-14 lays the foundation for the establishment of Talmudic courts of justice to be administered by disciples of the Chabad Lubavitch movement. The Noahide laws also have laid the groundwork for the execution, at some future date, of authentic Christians, individually by trial before a rabbinic judge, or en masse. The Jewish Encyclopedia envisions a Noahide regime as a New World Order immediately proceeding the universal reign of the Talmud.

The establishment of courts of law has always done by the Jewish leadership and the same will hold true for the time of the Antichrist when the Jewish Antichrist will establish courts for the gentiles and write laws which they must follow. (Daniel 7:25) Breaking just one of the Noahide laws will be punishable by death by decapitation. (Revelation 13:10; 20:4) The Antichrist will wear out and hate all Christians and make war with them. (Daniel 7:21, 25; Revelation 13:4, 7; Psalm 140:1-2)

Judaism prohibits Gentiles from entering the temple and the Antichrist will have a different law and religion for Gentiles. (Acts 21:27-28; Revelation 11:1-2) He will refer back to the Jewish Talmud and revive the Noahide Laws for the Gentiles, which they had to follow in times past if they wanted to live and worship in Jewish dominated areas. According to the Talmud, any non-Jew who adheres to these laws is regarded as a “righteous gentile,” and is assured of a place in the world to come, the final reward of the righteous.

On October 13, 2004, the Sanhedrin was reconstituted for the first time in 1,600 years. The ceremony took place in the Israeli town of Tiberias, located on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee. This was the site of the council’s last meeting in the year 425 AD. When Jerusalem was destroyed by the Romans in 70 A.D., the Jews who survived were scattered throughout the world and the Sanhedrin lost its authority and function. The Jewish Talmudic sages reconvened at Tiberias where the Sanhedrin continued to meet but with no real purpose, they disbanded in 425 AD.

THE SANHEDRIN

In the Middle Ages, the greatest of all Talmudic sages, Maimonides (also known as “Rambam”) wrote a summary of all the steps that would be necessary to reconstitute the Sanhedrin. Those involved in reviving the Sanhedrin today have been following the prescription outlined by Maimonides in the Mishna/Talmud.

Today, the Sanhedrin is developing and awaiting official integration into the Israeli government as the highest level of authority, similar to the way it existed in New Testament times. The Sanhedrin envisions itself to be an upper house or Senate of the Knesset and also to function as the equivalent of the Supreme Court in Israel. As might be expected, the secular forces still in control in Israel reject this move toward a theocracy, but the Sanhedrin has broad appeal among the religious community, particularly the orthodox groups.

The current Sanhedrin is composed of over 70 rabbis, just as it was in first century times. They are focused on reestablishing the Jewish state as it functioned during the second Temple era. This will primarily relate to a transformation of Israel into more of a religious state instead of primarily being a secular one. Another important part of this focus is the rebuilding of the Temple in Jerusalem, which will be the true focal point for the worship and sacrifices as ordained in the Torah. The High Priest who presided over the Sanhedrin also was the chief minister in the Temple and was the overseer of all the Levites.

THE TWO STATE SOLUTION

The United Nations was created October 24, 1945. The British Government decided, in 1947, to give up its mandate over Palestine and set the date to May 14, 1948, and the Palestine problem was submitted to the United Nations. On November 29, 1947, the United Nations voted to divide Palestine into two states, one Jewish and one for the Palestinians. In 2019, Israel’s Sanhedrin began the process of replacing the United Nations with “The 70 Nation Organization”.

THE 70 NATIONS ORGANIZATION

The 70 Nation Organization desires to implement the Talmudic Noahide Laws to govern and judge all humanity and establish an international court based in Jerusalem. On September 25, 2019 (the 5,780 anniversary on which Jewish Tradition (the Talmud) holds the world was created), the Sanhedrin held a conference for the emerging Organization of 70 Nations. The conference culminated in an animal sacrifice made by representatives of the nations on the Mount of Olives in which they renewed the covenant that the Talmud states was made by Noah upon leaving the ark. The Sanhedrin re-introduced animal sacrifices and held lectures and discussions focused upon the Noahide obligations incumbent upon all of mankind. A major focus was also the establishment of an International Court based on Mosaic principles for the Jews and Noahide Laws for Gentiles.

Reasons cited for replacing the United Nations with the 70 Nation Organization include the United Nations inability to maintain peace and order and that they are not compliant with the Noahide Laws. However, the United Nations has already issued proclamations stating that the Noahide Laws are “obligatory” upon all mankind. Perhaps in replacement of the United Nations, the 70 Nation Organization aims to set up an international Noahide court. The Sanhedrin in Israel is not yet a fully legal body but it aims to be one, and one of their stated objectives is to see the removal of all non-Noahide religions on earth and they are evangelizing and converting Noahides globally with the approval of the Israeli government. The Sanhedrin requested and President Donald Trump upheld the Noahide Laws, under American Public Law 102-14 which states the Talmudic Seven Noahide Laws are the foundation of American civilization.

The role of the 70 Nation Organization is to provide for all the spiritual, physical, and economic needs of the 70 nations; to cooperate toward the building of a temple (a world temple that will be the focal point for world peace and unification like King Solomon did) for all humanity; to bring peace from war and human strife; to save humanity from environmental destruction; to unite all humanity (70 nations) under one set of laws and one political/economic/religious standard. Israel is to be the overseer/ head of the 70 Nation Organization through one unified government, religion, and economic standard for all humanity (the entire world).

In Jewish tradition (Talmud), there were 70 original nations after the Flood, corresponding to the 70 names in (Genesis 10:1-32 – Table of Nations) where the seventy grandsons of Noah are enumerated, each of whom became the ancestor of a nation. Formal nations and their boundaries were established after the Flood in the Covenant with Noah. Before the Flood the earth was governed, evidently, by patriarchal family units. The Table of Nations is considered to be a simple historical narrative, dividing the earth into three parts/zones between Shem, Ham, and Japheth and enumerating the descendants of Noah, indicating the places they had chosen for their respective residences. After the flood, the generations of the sons of Noah (all nations/humanity), rebelled against God by attempting to build a tower and were then scattered throughout the world and became 70 nations with different languages. (Genesis 11) Since that time, all the nations of the world have been in exile. In Jewish tradition (Talmud), it is Israel’s responsibility to reassemble the 70 nations (all humanity) around a third temple to bring the nations out of rebellion and into unity and peace under one government, religion, and economy.

TAKING BACK THE LAND OF CANAAN

The Jewish people have been trying for the last 2500 years to take back the land of Canaan, but have been doing it without God. (Isaiah 59:1-21) They are trying to set up a messianic kingdom, but without a messiah. The Jews are still awaiting the arrival of their Messiah who is to rule over all the nations of the world from a physical (earthly) man-made rebuilt temple and a physical (earthly) humanly acquired and re-established Jerusalem and Israel. By rejecting Jesus Christ as their Messiah, they have not been redeemed from the curse of the law. (Galatians 3:6-16) Whereas, (Christians) believe the Messiah came two thousand years ago in the person of Jesus (who redeemed us from the curse of the law) and who is to rule over all the nations of the world from Jerusalem during the coming Millennial kingdom and reign of Jesus Christ, Psalm 2, and Isaiah 60 for instance, show this:

PSALM 2

1 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the Lord, and against his anointed, saying, 3 Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision. 5 Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them is his sore displeasure. 6 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the Lord hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for the possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. 10 Be wise therefore, O ye kings; he instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.

ISAIAH 60:1-12

1 Arise, shine; for they light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee. 2 For, behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people; but the Lord shall arise upon thee, and his glory shall be seen upon thee. 3 And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising. 4 Lift up thine eyes round about, and see: all they gather themselves together, they come to thee: thy sons shall come from far, and thy daughters shall be nursed at thy side. 5 Then thou shalt see, and flow together, and thine heart shall fear, and be enlarged; because the abundance of the sea shall be converted unto thee, the forces of the Gentiles shall come unto thee. 6 The multitude of camels shall cover thee, the dromedaries of Midian and Ephah; all they from Sheba shall come: they shall bring gold and incense; and they shall shew forth the praises of the Lord. 7 All the flocks of Kedar shall be gathered together unto thee, the rams of Nebaioth shall minister unto thee: they shall come up with acceptance on mine altar, and I will glorify the house of my glory. 8 Who are these that fly as a cloud and as the doves to their windows? 9 Surely the isles shall wait for me, and the ships of Tarshish first, to bring thy sons from far, their silver and their gold with them, unto the name of the Lord thy God, and the Holy One of Israel, because he hath glorified thee. 10 And the sons of strangers shall build up thy walls, and their kings shall minister unto thee; for in my wrath I smote thee, but in my favour have I had mercy on thee. 11 Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day nor night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought. 12 For the nation and the kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.

THE CITY OF JERUSALEM

The great city of Jerusalem is figuratively called Sodom and Egypt and Babylon. (Revelation 11:8; 18:10) Comparisons of Israel, Judah, or Jerusalem to that of Sodom (and Gomorrah) are also frequent. (Deuteronomy 29:23; Isaiah 1:9-10; 3:8-9; Jeremiah 23:14; Ezekiel 16:1-2, 44-58; Amos 4:11; Lamentations 4:6)

Comparisons of Israel to Egypt are fewer, but they do occur. Deuteronomy chapter 28 details the rewards and penalties of Israel’s covenant with God. In the event of disobedience to the covenant, verses 27 and 60 compare a disobedient Israel as worthy of the same plagues that came on Egypt during the exodus. A similar instance occurs in Amos. (Amos 4:10)

Jerusalem is “The City”, the “Great City” that rules over all the kingdoms of the earth. However, in killing the prophets, as well as those who bring testimony of Jesus to it.

The Son of said “O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate. For I say unto you, ye shall not see me henceforth, till ye shall say, Blessed is he who cometh in the name of the Lord.” (Matthew 23:37-39)

THE CORNERSTONE

“I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.” (John 5:43)

“Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7)

This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner. Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. And beholding the man which was healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.” (Acts 4:8-14)

STEPHEN SAID:

“Ye stiffnecked and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as your fathers did, so do ye. Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? and they have slain them which shewed before of the coming of the Just One; of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the disposition of angels, and have not kept it.” (Act 7:51-53)

THE APOSTLE PAUL SAID:

“Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God’s righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth.” (Romans 10:1-4)
